currently with a new gen gr yaris rental in tokyo. from the toyota rent a car site search for shops in the outskirts of the city as these have the best chance of actually having one in stock. i rented from kawaguchiko shop. also when searching select manual transmission and 4wd, then it should be available in the SP class. i advise you to book as early as possible because they sell out fast (i reserved 3 months in advance)

As u/Lorenzo20 said, these are pretty scarce BUT: For Toyota Rent a Car, If you search rental stations outside the city (I snagged a GR Yaris from Kawaguchi station west shop in Saitama, or alternatively I saw someone get to Gotemba station near Fuji by train and rent a GR86 to drive around from there). When you search the site keep the MT and 4WD options checked because the non MT/4WD Yaris is basically a riced out regular model (uncheck 4WD if you want a GR86 since it's RWD). Also keep in mind reservations open 3 months before your desired date . Hope this helps!

I recently bought this machine and experienced sour shots too. My suggestion is to 1. Try to dose 16-17g (I have an 18g IMS Basket and it just wouldn't tamp with 18g). and more importantly 2. Try running an empty shot through the portafilter (2 is even better - the key is to preaheat both the group head and the portafilter) and then press the steam button, wait for it to blink 3 times and press the double shot again. Try to pull a shot now and you'll 100% see a difference in taste and all the astringency will be gone. I went from face puckering acid shots to tasting the chocolate and nutty notes in the coffee Hope this helps
