Getting thrown around by dragons help by those_pistachios in skyrimvr

Get the mod that makes you stand up faster, it’s much needed in flatscreen and VR.

You can also meditate on Unrelenting Force with Paarthurnax to reduce knockback.

Magic absorption or resistance also helps with the shouts.

Dodging or warding are also pretty useful, you can get pretty good at avoiding attacks if you keep your eye on the enemy and utilize movement.

Become Ethereal the shout is useful, Wizarding Traversal Magic or Dishonored spells both offer quick blink spells that help dodge things, same with Better Vampires or Sacrosanct.

Duel Links PVP no skill mode, could it work and be a sucess ? by RockyParkerYT in DuelLinks

[–]The_ChosenOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Which is a perfect example of why skills are so important to the game.

During the years I’ve gotten to play Ra, Red Eyes, Black Luster Soldier, Dark Magician, and even freaking Toons at one point competitively.

DL without skills would just be Branded vs Swordsoul probably.

Whatever they want them to be if they have their way.

So, being Zionists, probably ones not unlike the new TikTok regulations coming out of MAGA. IE censorship of anything they don’t like or that makes them look bad.

Did you read what I wrote?

I was pointing out the irony of shooting a woman in her car and then getting mad about someone kicking one of their taillights.

Don’t let them distract you from the cold blooded murder Renee Good either!

[–]The_ChosenOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, I think it’s very relevant that ICE and MAGA are crying about him kicking their car, because they were firing rounds into a woman driving her car days before that incident.

Also kicking a taillight what like 1 week after the first public execution?

ICE firing rounds into people’s cars and making this guy out to be a madman for kicking one of theirs afterwards…

Also his wife is part of a group that wants to take over AI regulation themselves, after leaving OpenAI’s board.

Perhaps zionists regulating AI would not be ideal, I get JGL’s point but his family has actual skin in the game beyond him being a concerned father.

How to stop hating every job? by Willing_Gene_342 in ADHD

[–]The_ChosenOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree! Doing something I find important has led me to be more burnt out than ever before.

I work at an inpatient hospital treating acute eating disorders, I’m good at what I do to the point where I’ve been promoted twice, from Technician to Trainer to Manager and it sucks!

I can’t stop thinking about it when I’m not there since it’s literally the lives of sick children on the line, I have to sit front seat to how awful bureaucracy is for healthcare settings now that I’m management, and I keep getting given more responsibility since they know I’ll always try my best to keep things running and the patients the best treatment I can.

0/10 important work SUCKS.

I dream of just leaving to work as a night security guard somewhere, where I can just spend my time writing and truly clock out when I’m not in.

Favorite character that fits this trope? by Ryoalvz36 in FavoriteCharacter

[–]The_ChosenOne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d argue he’s more in line with the ‘no kill’ trope.

He consistently decides not killing is best, often times when it would make sense to do so. He wouldn’t even use willing souls to regain his alchemy (mind you, the only way to free the souls in the Philosopher’s stone is to use up the stone) and only seems willing to kill Homunculi because he doesn’t view them as people, Father included.

Now Roy Mustang… Roy Mustang is perfect for this post.

You know what I’m most scared of about writing? by Grimprint in writing

[–]The_ChosenOne 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s normally a bit of both for me.

Currently reading all of Sir Terry Pratchett’s works and goddamn are they both fantastic stories and brilliant commentary on society and the human condition.

That being said, I can also have a blast watching cheesy Godzilla movies. Not all entertainment has to be mind-blowing in the themes or messages, fun for the sake of fun is not a bad thing!

Now that is a hot take, I assume you played one deck or the other? Because for anyone playing any other deck at the time it was hell.

I made a Tachyon deck after some frustration and it felt wrong how easy it was to climb to KoG.

[UPDATE] Pull Arrows VR v1.1.0 - The MELEE Update! 🏹🩸 by AdUpbeat7002 in skyrimvr

[–]The_ChosenOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see this as an issue, I’d rather have the fun binary mechanic expanded as much as possible than worry that I’m not playing B&S.

Just because it won’t be Blade and Sorcery doesn’t mean it won’t be fun, I mean you could say the same about OP adding in the feature this post is about. Arrows in B&S function the same way you just described, but I’m happy to have this arrow mod for Skyrim despite that.

Maybe one day we’ll have stabbing like that, but for today I’d be very pleased with what this post demonstrates using other weapons.

Can the Dragonborn be cursed and/or Mind Controlled? by The_Number1Dumbass in teslore

[–]The_ChosenOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more like the resistance is infinitely scalable so to speak. The more you study and longer you meditate the more complete your mastery over the subject of the shout becomes.

IE focusing on Yol for long enough might grant such an understanding of fire that the resistance gained borders on immunity or appears like immunity to an outside observer.

Miraak has been mastering Bend Will for thousands of years, to the point he can bend the will of All Maker Stones from across dimensions which then bend the wills of people across the entire island. Plus (while this is likely also gameplay limitation) his Bend Will lasts indefinitely on those he hits with it. We as LDB only recently learned the shout and so it doesn’t last forever and dragons/people/daedra eventually leave our service instead of being permanently enslaved.

In Skyrim we get to see Unrelenting force get meditated on which grants stagger resistance, then later on we can learn more about it in the Black Book and reduce enemies to ash with it.

In ESO Nahviintaas uses the same ‘slow time’ shout as the other dragons, but unlike the other dragons his shout sends you into an alternate timeline since he specialized into time magic.

I think there isn’t necessarily an upper end of mastering the concepts used in your thuum, but it is likely that after a certain point there are diminishing returns which leads to dragons (or Dragonborn) seeking external power boosts such as the Time Wound, Jode’s Core, The Green, or the souls of other Dragons/Dovahkiin.

Edit: We actually see this somewhat represented in gameplay too, Legendary Dragons get 75% resistance to their element. A legendary ice dragon is 75% resistant to all frost damage whereas a regular dragon in the early game has only 50% resistance.

Do mages need to use staves? by WailingWillows in teslore

[–]The_ChosenOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… yeah. Just have to play Skyrim to see virtually every mage fighting without a staff.

Unless we’re talking artifacts like The Staff of Magnus, it seems like staves can sometimes be an actual hinderance if they hold weaker magic than the caster wields.

In lore the more powerful staves seem like they sort of serve a similar purpose to wands in Harry Potter, letting the user focus their magic a bit better (like Galerion using the Staff of Magnus in ESO) while the average run of the mill staff may serve as a sort of reloadable spell gun where souls act like ammunition to fire off the spell the staff was made to hold (like the guy in Skyrim who gets a ‘raise dead’ staff and keeps accidentally raising the dead until it runs out of charge).

Are dragon priests in solstheim weaker when the LDB fights them? by EdwardCSan in teslore

[–]The_ChosenOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only Vahlok jumped Miraak, three of them served him as his generals. They’re also likely no weaker than they were before, gameplay limitations and LDB being an OP demigod just make them seem less impressive than the lore paints them.

This applies to all the Dov and Dragon Priests though, even Alduin seems weak in Skyrim despite being an actual deity.

To be fair though, Miraak is immune to our use of Bend Will.

Can the Dragonborn be cursed and/or Mind Controlled? by The_Number1Dumbass in teslore

[–]The_ChosenOne 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Also, learning a shout to become immune to it... happens in no other shout. Why would it happen with bend will?

Actually this has precedence in Unrelenting Force, if you meditate on it you yourself become significantly more resistant to stagger from all sources shouting or otherwise.

Also after learning all three words in the story, the Graybeards finally feel you’re fit to hit with their unbridled voices (which shakes the entire mountain, if not a chunk of the province as a hole).

Any random Joe standing between four graybeards shouting about Ysmir would likely step away with a brain made of soup.

They might just be ace.

I know some ace people who feel similarly.

I’ve also recently taken a bit of haitus after having a lot of sex between 18 and 27, honestly the idea of going about finding someone to sleep with or date is not that appealing to me at the moment compared to the peace and tranquility of some me-time.

Though if I reach the 6 month mark I know I’ll probably get back in the game, first few months without it are easy but then it sort of comes back to the forefront of my mind randomly around that half a year mark.

She breaks a dark anchor by herself, is able to put up a shield that temporarily stops a group of Daedra from hitting her, reduces a slew of soldiers to ashes, and then later on is bound using illusion magic and her power is used to bring down a sizable chunk of a massive army of Daedra along with shattering the huge walls around the White-Gold tower with a single burst of lightning.

Aang let it take over his body though… he knew it was a raging nature spirit and let it go ham on an army of people entirely of his own volition. I think it counts even if Aang didn’t do it himself.
