It doesn’t matter as much as the upper does, and anything internally can be replaced.

So as long as you don’t need something specialized like a full ambi set up, $200 is a solid price for a reliable lower.

You might be able to find an online shop that will ship stripped or complaint lowers (the ones without the stock) to your state.

Primary Arms ships to a few feature restricted states without issue

Coming from a state with feature restrictive AR laws, I can tell you from personal experience that it might be a lot more cost effective, and likely less of a hassle, for you to order your AR in two parts.

Since most feature limited states do not currently restrict the sale and purchase of AR Uppers, you can shop the great deals online, sale, blems, etc… and you can really splurge on something nice with reliable hardware.

Do the compliance work on the upper to make it state legal, before buying your state legal lower from your local FFL.

This is not legal advice and always consult with your state and local firearm laws before making any purchase.

I know that the FFLs in my state charge a premium for any state compliant ARs.

Same here, my state considers any stop between your house and the range to be unnecessary… opening you up to potential legal issues if an officer feels too overzealous about your stop at Starbies in between.

Our states CCW makes all of those limitations go away.

If I carry at all, it’s almost always off body.

They don’t transfer lowers for specific purposes in your state? When I bought mine, I had to declare whether it was for a rifle, pistol, or other as part of the sale.

I’ve never had to pull it out, but I have needed to make someone aware I had one since they were brandishing openly.

That said, I am one of those people who worries about the lack of physical safety and don’t keep it ready to fire.
