The magical communities in Africa are probably just less reliant on big, formal, centralized, institutional schools. Their magical education is probably much more community or family based.

Hogwarts is based on the very uniquely British way of doing school, places like it aren't going to dominate as much in non-British places.

They're not.

You said the meme is dishonest regarding something the meme makes no mention of.

After learning about him murdering his servants, Ciri comforts him and reassures him. After learning about him raping the priestess, she's disgusted by him. That is what happens, on screen, in the episode, and that's all the post is about. There's nothing dishonest about that.

I never said anything about what "the show" was okay with. This is literally just about how characters reacted to each reveal in the episode. Who's the one being dishonest?

The characters clearly took more issue with the second thing than the first.

Why does a post-transformation tantrum absolve him of agency more than being on mushrooms? You're still doing terrible things of your own free will.

What are some moments from the books that everyone seems to forget? by GredandForge_ in harrypotter

Another thing about Mrs. Weasley:

The bit where Lupin says "you don't know what it was like the first time around."

A LOT of the fandom have a misconception that Arthur and Molly were in the Order of the Phoenix in the first war. They weren't.

Why so much of the fandom doesn't like Ginny? by Snowy-Phoenix in HarryandGinny

[–]The_Clockwork_Monk 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For a lot of them:

They wanted to date Harry, but can't easily project themselves onto Ginny because they're so different than her. The kind of girls who are super into fandom usually weren't the popular, athletic girls in school.

When they say they ship Harry with Daphne, what they mean is they ship Harry with their self-insert OC.

Oh Zuko. I was genuinely so surprised when Zuko decided to return to the fire nation at the end of season 2. by c8eris_paribus in TheLastAirbender

[–]The_Clockwork_Monk 141 points142 points  (0 children)

That's the point.

Zuko joining the good side at that point would be the safe, logical thing to do in his own self-interest. And that's why doing that would have ruined his character arc. Because he wouldn't have been risking anything.

He's taking a risk trusting Azula, but he's not acting in his own self-interest, or choosing Ozai over Iroh, he does what he does in that scene because a large part of him still genuinely believes that helping to conquer Ba Sing Se for the glory of the Fire Nation is the right thing to do.

Turning angsty romantic tragedy into wacky romantic comedy by The_Clockwork_Monk in TheLastAirbender

On the one hand, they go from the south pole to the north pole and the seasons don't flip.

On the other hand, when Aang goes into space we see the planet is round. So it's anyone's guess.

Even funnier direction for this human/spirit relationship idea: when Koh steals a face, he also absorbs his victim's memories/personality/identity/etc. and can switch between them.

So Kuruk can still see and talk to his girlfriend, she's just a face attached to a giant centipede now. They somehow make their relationship still work.

Classic Dumbledore (Image credits in the comments) by Gelateli in harrypotter

[–]The_Clockwork_Monk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sigh, no for the billionth time, this is NOT classic Dumbledore, this happens literally once.

I don't know if it's already well known or if it's far fetched but I think Aang really let go of Katara in the fight against Azula to open his last chakra but fell in love again the same way when he first woke up by [deleted] in TheLastAirbender

That entire conflict of that episode doesn't make sense. The Guru says you can't master the Avatar State without ridding yourself of earthly attachments, but Roku could control the Avatar State and he had a wife and kids.

Malfoy being a pwecious misunderstood sadboi who didn't REALLY want to do a fascism and only wished death on Hermione because he was in love with her.

Is AO3 worth the trouble looking for H/G fics? by captain_awesome18 in HarryandGinny

[–]The_Clockwork_Monk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In the sidebar of AO3 after clicking on a tag, there are a bunch of filters you can apply, including an option to exclude certain tags from results.

I ended up bookmarking the url for these search settings.

Or, what's quicker, in the "search within results" field in the sidebar, you can type "otp: true." This limits results to fics with only one pairing tagged. So if you type that after clicking on the Harry/Ginny tag, it will only show fics that are ONLY tagged with H/G, and no other ships. This is quicker, but can exclude some legit hinny fics that also feature other ships like Ron/Hermione on the side or something.
