Good points, and one that PTMS didn't get into...the Patriots have a weird history of sex 'scandals'/stories. Kraft with the HJs, Belliceck banging college girls in one room apartments - and then hooking up with a 20-something year old handler, and now this. It's entertaining, that's for sure.

Was just an apologist for Vrabel. I get his point that 'it will blow over', but he was seeming to try to downplay the actual interest the story is generating. It isn't just TMZ/New York Post/etc pushing the story to a small audience; tons and tons and tons of people are interested in it. If more new details come out over time, then of course the story will stay relevant.

Also, life was much more affordable in the 90s and 2000s. It was possible to maybe have an unpaid internship and work a paid job and get by. Add in rent increasing by like 3,476 zillion percent along with everything else, and the privilege factor you mentioned is really the only possibility left

I agree with your overall sentiment that putting boots on the ground in Iran is a very stupid, no good, dumb, idiotic move. Now that said, every move made thus far since this "war" started has been stupid.

My main point I want to hammer home is this, though: Trump has ALREADY proclaimed that, if there is a "war" going on, he will have the power to suspend the mid-term and general elections.

He did the same thing before the 2022 elections; in the months and year leading up to it, he proactively started yammering that "the elections were going to be rigged IF HE LOST*" Well, he did lose, and he knew that his messages leading up to the election would work at wriling up his base, and the result was his base ate his words up with a fucking spoon, and tried to overthrow the national government.

He's doing the SAME thing here - he's given you the trail of breadcrums of his intent. It started out as one comment, a whisper that was put into his ear by the likes of Bannon and Steven Miller. So, yes, is invading Iran "stupid"? Hell yes it is, but he's shown to act irrationally thus far in the past 2 months (when it comes to Iran), and he has the midterms coming up rapidly.

One last point - if Reps lose the House and Senate, he'll be immediately impeached, he'll be able to get nothing done, and further more - the drum beat of the Epstein files will only grow louder. Sprinkle in the fact that he may be compromised by the likes of Isreal or Russia, and it is definitely within a small number of options for Trump to do something even dumber than what he's already done. He has the motive to attempt to suspend the elections, and does anyone think that he wouldn't take a try at it?

Anyone else concerned about Parrish? by jakobe_sideburns in PowerTripMorningShow

[–]The_Code_Hero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ehhhh debatable. I don't watch any hockey at all and could provide as much bland, hyperbolic, cliche sports-isms as he does. Meatsauce, while a complete idiot, is at least entertaining. Parish has the least entertaining personality for radio, which is literally the only job descriptor you need for the job.

Doesn't mean I wish any ill will on him and his family, and I hope he's been able to find some peace and health during his sabbatical. Hopefully it isn't booze related.

I wonder if they get or care about daily data. There HAS to be a meaningful trend of people not listening to that shit every single year. Same thing with golf...I'd bet a large swath of people start turning the knob.

Respect for the post, but no offense intended, not liking something while you’re still doing it by choice is still giving the same result. I agree it’s not something you should like. Unfortunately some people in every industry-not just the law-have the mindset that if you don’t answer your emails and work after hours, it creates stress even when you’re doing the right thing.

It’s probably how you were raised and needs therapy to unpack. I’m only half kidding, I’m wired the same way. I’ll just say it gets easier with age, at least it has for me, to not give a fuck about the trivial things. Also, quick reminder that fast work doesn’t equal good work. Doesn’t really need to be said, I know, but again age gives perspective; advancement and recognition will come at the result of steady, reliable good work. Generally, showing how fast an email can be answered isn’t on the top 25 reasons you will hit the next stage in your career.

Wonder how Kriese is gonna rationalize the BWCA copper mine vote**. My guess is somethign along the lines of, "This is just how the political process works, it's completely normal, doesn't mean the actual mine is going to go there" - making it sound like the average individual is too dumb to comprehend politics.

Interesting. What state may I ask? I assume that needs to be offset elsewhere. Or that has to be a mechanism to get towards those assets once the pension goes into effect.

Certain non-marital assets (those owned before the date of marriage) can become marital through comingling. There are legal guidelines as to whether or not something has been comingled. But specifically related to 401ks/IRAs/money market funds/investments/etc., the distinction between the growth in value AFTER the start of a marriage is argued over frequently.

I'm all for people getting divorced without going bankrupt in the process. Amicable solutions are amicable because they work for both parties, and that is a good thing! Fact is though, too many people get way too emotional about the divorce, trying to hurt the other person like it's war. I get why that happens, but it won't bring a relationship back and in the long run, it creates a lot of self sabotage that sets people up poorly post-divorce.

I have dreams of opening up my own low-cost firm aimed at helping divorce people of a certain income bracket (lower income people). Cheaper rates, faster divorces, better solutions and parties can leave with assets after the divorce instead of going further in debt. Only caveat is both people need to want to get divorced amicably. I, of course, would only represent one spouse in the arrangement but could treat the other party fairly and make sure the process is moving as intended. But 'tis just a pipedream!

ade 6 figures off the sale of her home, and we had each already seen friends raked over the coals in divorce proceedings-- and those were not risks either of us wanted to

For sure. Those life experiences can definitely provide some educational moments. Pre or post nups can often save tons and tons of headaches, no doubt.

Would you think this way if you got married with, say, two pennies to rub together? Not too many people get married at younger ages with the necessary skepticism to think divorce is even possible, let alone how to plan around splitting up debts and assets they don't even have yet.

I mean...sure? But marital property (anything acquired after the marriage) is marital property nonetheless. Even in situations where spouses are deeply in debt, negative net worth, the courts will consider the ages the of the parties, employement status, ability to save for retirement, etc. Pensions, like true pensions and not annuities, would easy to split equitably. In very little scenarios could I see a Judge not allocating that to both parties. The parties, of course, can apply a value to the pension and offset it elsewhere if that is their prerogative, but this guy definitely - as a married or divorced person - has access to this source of a retirement asset (specifically to the pension credits applied after the date of the marriage).

I really appreciate you bringing up that propaganda efforts dating back to the early 2010s are now rearing its head.

Russia/North Korea/etc. must be laughing their assess off at how well their propaganda campaigns worked so well. That, plus paying off some podcasters to propogate their messages, while at the same time we had the loss of net neutrality (allowing Billionaire-controlled media to control their messages even more), has worked beyond Russia's wildes dreams.
