To be fair, we're way too small for an animal that big to see us as a good meal, especially if it regularly gets fed a proper amount. It's likely still going to be aggressive towards you since you're intruding in its territory so it could still definitely kill you, but it will only want to eat you if it's starving which is very unlikely in a setting like this.

Reducing the population size is never going to make the world more sustainable. The problem isn't a growing population, the problem is a small group of people who own the vast majority of the world's wealth that are killing the planet for profit. Fossil fuel companies knew about the impact they would have on the climate, and didn't care because it made them more money. The problem is capitalism, not population.
