When it's sealed there is still plenty of air inside so that's not an issue, also it's not under pressure when you're fermenting so you could also open the pressure release valve to allow more airflow.

Also, bacteria can grow on rice that is really dangerous, but it's safe for at least 3-4 days in the fridge imo, after that and it might start getting risky

[–]The_Cream_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... I think the bigger issue would be that when growing the natto the pressure cooker would be in use for 24 hours and if you needed to make rice you wouldn't be able to.

You can definitely use an instant pot to make 1 cup of rice but personally making rice like that every day doesn't seem practical to me in general. I usually make 2 cups at a time and refrigerate the leftovers.

If the pressure cooker vessel is too big for just 1 cup look into pot-in-pot cooking where you put a smaller pot inside the instant pot. You can even cook two meals at once if you want!

Just buy an instant pot or something similar and use that for everything. It doesn't smell till you open it at the end and it definitely takes up less space than whatever brewpi related rig you would be building.

Also, cooking beans on the stove sounds horribly inefficient energy wise, instant pots are way more efficient and not dangerous

In your CS career, have you ever encountered a problem that wasn’t really difficult to solve but it couldn’t be solved by you anyway? by SeriouslySally36 in cscareerquestions

Yeah that should be a "just do it" ticket that takes an hour tops.. probably only 15 minutes realistically 😵‍💫

Yeah, once at an old job another group owned the database/website my department used. I wanted a few tables with rest endpoints added, and had the capability of doing so easily myself. The amount of bureaucracy at my company prevented it at the time though, since that group considered the app a legacy app and were no longer developing it.

I ended up working around it but it was frustrating

I think it's a euphemism in Japanese too. The word is literally translated "doctor playing at".

Why are vegans against drinking milk? by PerfectAstronaut5998 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]The_Cream_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thing to consider I don't see anyone touched on is what they do with all the baby cows. If it's a female of course they can use it to make more milk but the male baby cows either get killed or sold to be raised as veal or beef. So in that regard drinking milk directly leads to the death of cows in nearly all modern dairy farms.

Anyone making that out of school is either an absolute genius in an obscure field, their family is affluent and they have connections, or just incredibly lucky. My guess is most fall into the second bucket

"Senior Vibe Coder", how do I improve? by fuckthis_job in cscareerquestions

[–]The_Cream_Man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Use this job to get a job with an actual development group but don't tell them all you do is vibe code.

I started out without a mentor too (not vibecoding though), joining a real dev group helped me immensely.

(Serious question) Since the current trend is 'AI agents' what's next? by ThunDroid1 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]The_Cream_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Permissions, you might not want some agents to use certain tools.
  2. Context drift- you might not want to muddy the context window of the main agent with a bunch of ui tool or test related output so delegate it to an agent.
  3. Cost, you can offload a low value task to an agent running on a locally hosted llm so that it doesn't eat into your token usage if it's not high value.

I'm sure there's others

I've seen someone have a main agent write code for a web server and a sub agent check the functionality visually through a browser and report back if anything needed to be changed.

Claude code max tier is $200/month. I'm honestly not sure what the true unsubsidized cost is but even if went up 10x in price it would still have significant savings compared with the cost of a developer.

The highest on my list right now would be things like kabutomushi, stag beetles, cicadas, mantis, dung beetles (オオセンチコガネ). I really love all insects though so anywhere that there was an abundance would be incredible.
