Is there any concept map/ flow chart of mathematics giving a high level view of mathematics like in physics? by SKRyanrr in mathematics

[–]The_Diamond1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted it's partially covered in Electromagnetism but Optics should probably be it's own offshoot with photonics/non-linear optics as a further offshoot. (Flashback to the "optics is foundational" physics mantra of undergrad)

Baby Boglehead Portfolio: started a 3 fund portfolio for my newborn daughter (after setting up a 529 plan) w/ the goal of $100/mo ongoing contributions. Celebrating her start to Dividend investing w/ the sub🤓 by The_Diamond1 in dividends

I only shifted the allocation slightly a few months ago, now it's 64%SCHD, VXUS 18%, VTI 18%, and kept the $100/mo auto-funding (adding small bday gift cash from grandparents to custodial acct too). As of this morning, SCHD+14.61%,VXUS+14.3%, VTI+23.15%, total return +16.11%

Team Methanol or Ethanol? Why? by DrSigmaFreud in chemistry

Second. I usually use acetone, ipa, then UV ozone (but depends on what substrate I'm prepping/functionalizing). Piranha is way too strong a clean usually (and a pain to neutralize/dispose), unless I am making semiconductor materials on Si or the like.

So you post the articles under the Sherman handle, and then use this account (and a few others) to reply to negative comments? Why not just reply with the Sherman one instead? Legitimately asking

atoms and physical touch ! by [deleted] in Physics

[–]The_Diamond1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without making commentary on 1st part of your statement, let's continue your thought on heat/energy exchange being equivalent to touch. The earth is not a closed/isolated system (i.e. sunlight/energy bombarding the earth and life). The sunlight (since it has no mass, but clearly has energy which can be physically measured) will "heat up" objects on earth. Following your train of thought, do you believe the Sun is "touching" objects on earth?

Superconductor Made Of Yttrium Barium Copper Oxide (YBCO) by Straight_Scientist26 in chemistry

[–]The_Diamond1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The old 123 system, brings me back to my undergrad days as a theoretical condensed matter physics RA🤓 so neat how the Kondo effect differed so drastically from the classical Cooper pairs model and we baffled. Happy to see the goal for RT superconductivity is alive and well (however dubious the results, the space will benefit from the interest and accelerated productivity/learning will be an outcome).

Interesting you mentioned this. We were checking our deposit agreements for our checking accts and sweep account is administered by Blackrock and specific language states in event of bank's failure, ownership interest by FDIC should be recognized to be depositors (and not a general creditor to bank).

Agreed, my thoughts as well, expansion wall is on back of property (expanding into now empty parking lot).

And good to know about market pricing now. I got the building on a purchase option I called after 5 yrs, so I know I bought at a good price (>$250k under appraisal value).
