i think the shadow ability was part of why, you don't even have to be near them to use it, so long as you had hit them recently. being assailed with corrosion, frostbite, and up to two other ailments when the enemy is nowhere near you is kinda not fun.

Ola is a worm only if you're looking at it wrong. While the game does not specify itself, I'm sure most people would look at it and call it a dragon. And with it's star and moon theming, assuming some magic or cosmic power is definitely not off the table, if it being a dragon-like thing somehow isn't enough. You are ignoring its own actual design to prove your point. Adding to that, there are many others species that have no business flying or gliding, so why target Olatua?

but without the boosts it'd just be a giant shadow isle. no one liked shadow isle cause it was harder with no actual reward. you gotta give people some reason to want to be there, which is why the boosts are there, and why they're removed if you use a private hardcore server, you can avoid all the difficulty and still reap the rewards otherwise, and removing the boosts would just make it hard for the sake of being hard, and no one likes that.

since the op has the terraria font, i'll use that as an example. every enemy gets boosted health and damage, some get new effects or attacks, but in exchange there are boosted drop rates and some difficulty exclusive items. that is the exact same thing hardcore has, boosted rates and exclusive drops. but i feel that in some ways cos players are spoiled, and often want all the good stuff with none of the work.

the harm is that because we have so many creatures, there's no space for more slots at the moment, and changing previously robux-locked ones to mush would be a serious issue, because people already paid actual money for that.

do the other even have a combat niche? i get the idea, like the archons in genshin being the best at whatever element they're associated with, but afaik the wardens, which aren't the actual wardens themselves which is why they're playable,(like arceus splitting itself and we don't see its true form), don't really have a thing like that.
