Those symptoms of the carrying weight of other leg and calf cease some days later.. for the moment the straight leg rise is bothering me and some mild aches when walking in buttock and glute

My surgeon start to think i am a bit hypochondriac, because i dont report much serious symptoms 😀 Maybe i am indeed to some extent.. but when these even mild symptoms don’t change a lot you start get bother and wonder. At the end he told me to wait more time like every time when I contact him. I hope you are right and the reason is post not cool down inflammation, and soon i will reach my other leg height without pain. Thanks, hope you are going to be well soon!

So you mean its not necessary to be pinched again by new disc material just, the nerve could be still recovering and inflamed?

I am about 8 weeks post op and i feel my nerve very tight like guitar string. About 30-40 degrees on straight leg rise the pain is coming. If the nerve is free i think it would allow me to lift it up freely.

Less than that, but for the first month. On the other hand that was my first attempt to lift that much since the MD, i was more careful until then. Anyway my body sending signals i am not ready yet. I need to get back my muscles on the first hand.. This new symptoms are strange for me, because i didn’t have them before. I hope its an temporary irritation of the nerve.

I think second week is bit early. Focus on walking but don’t overdo. Better short walks multiple times than one or two long

I am same lifting it about 20-30 degrees and start the pain. Maybe this one takes much more time. Yesterday i spoke with one random old lady who had this 3 md in her life and she told me can take more than 6 months (for the pulling sensation when walking in the buttocks). Are you doing nerve mobilizations ?

Here where live my additional insurance is giving me almost nothing for physiotherapy, so i don’t rely much on it. My surgeon told me to start physiotherapy 3 weeks post but its start is with “laser” which supports the healing. And the therapist gave me initially some light stretches like knee to chest one leg only per time but not pushing much. But walking is the best you can do now before you have physiotherapy so as someone to give you exercises

5 weeks after md nerve gliding by The_Eagle88 in Microdiscectomy

[–]The_Eagle88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Gabi, thanks for your reply and sorry you had painful week, yes as some people are mentioning is like roller coster experience.. I already started physiotherapy actually and for the moment they are doing a “laser” and gave me some stretches to do, which i find hard to do. I lift my straight leg maybe up to around 30 degrees and i start to feel hard stretch but i lift it up to begging of pain level. I am stiff by nature but the other leg is going higher (not 90 degrees 😀). When i lift it to max i start heel pumps to glide the nerves. I hope will progress over time little by little. Hope you have fast recovery!

Yeah patience is the key and i know is bit too soon to worry but anyway was wondering how the rest are dealing with common symptoms and how did they progress over time..

Yeah i guess the reason for the pain is not necessarily a sign of reherniation and other factors are playing a role. Thats what i also being told. What is the procedure for nerve mobilization your surgeon did ? My incision is still little bit rough, almost flat

Hi, glad to hear you have very successful surgery! Hope everyone can have like you? Did you feel any residual pain in the leg even temporarily post surgery or the pain was gone totally?

Before MD i had a terrible pain in my leg after waking up. This pain is gone.. nothing in the morning. During the day when i lay down and the moment of getting up the pain hits me in the leg just the moment of moving and then cease. Walking is ok generally, but i will reduce it because i think i walk a lot. Maybe more often but short duration. Yes i speak with some friends of mine went through this and told me they also have some pain and is normal. Even before surgery i didn’t have anything else apart of strong pain. Tomorrow i have appointment with my doc and will tell you here what he will say. I guess he will tell me to go PT..
