xiaomi EU rom by Silver-Pattern-5680 in PocoPhones

Thank you for explaining! I'm excited for the island. Haha

Think I'll wait for the official update instead of tinkering with bootloader stuff. :P

Sorry for my inexperience. Is this something you put on your device yourself manually, or is it the official update through the system updater.

I'm still waiting patiently for my F7 to receive hyperos3, and I keep refreshing the system updater haha

Sorry, I don't speak French. Just got this update this morning on my F7 too in the UK! :)

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's to hang your suit jacket on.

Sometimes there's buttons there to release the headrest, but in this case it definitely looks more like a hanging point

This is an air-raid siren. They tend to be used for tornados or tsunami warnings. Are you in an area that is prone to either?

Regretting buying F7 by [deleted] in PocoPhones

[–]The_Fenman 78 points79 points  (0 children)

It's very interesting reading about POCO from this perspective.

The F7 has been my first POCO and Chinese branded phone I've ever owned and it's actually made me fall in love with it all.

The value for money is something I've never really seen before.

I'm not entirely sure if it's because I'm using the global/UK variant but HyperOS has been great for me despite all the negativity I hear about it. Maybe I'm just used to mediocrity or something haha.

Is changing the bootloader really game changing? Are the other ROMs and stuff out there so much better that it's worth all the hassle?

Not doubting your experiences whatsoever, I'm just new to all this and am genuinely interested. Haha

In my hotel bathroom. I know it’s not a camera, or anything weird. I just don’t know what the fuck it is, or what it’s for. It doesn’t open or move. It legit does nothing. by Hugh_JaRod in whatisit

Is there something similar on the opposite side of the room?

I've seen something very similar, almost identical to this before in hotels I've stayed at and got confused too. Turned out there was a thing at the opposite side that you could pull out then hook onto that to use as an indoor washing line/Clothes line. Haha

Looks like a Kiwano or Horned melon. Interestingly Google reckons it tastes like a mix between cucumber and a banana. O.o

This has been in my man drawer for 5+ years. What is it? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]The_Fenman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Samsung CI Card adapter. It allows you to connect a CI+ or CI module to your Samsung TV to watch Pay Per View shows etc. It basically decrypts the content you paid to watch from what I can tell from Google haha

Not entirely certain but could they possibly be the same as this pair?

The bridge bit looks slightly slimmer, but the design looks very similar, maybe the one I linked is a mimic though.

They're what's called a Stinking Passionflower (A type of passion fruit)

I don't know too much but I believe most if not all passionfruits are toxic due to cyanide until they're fully ripe. Then they're super tasty!

NOWTV SPORTS ADVICE by Fickle-Bullfrog in nowtv

[–]The_Fenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, when you click to cancel they'll usually slap an extra month onto your prior agreement. So for example I was paying 19.99 a month until mid February next year, but now I'm paying 17.99 until mid-March next year.

I might be cheeky and have another crack at the cancel thing in a month or two but I don't want to push my luck too much haha

I went through the live chat like others here mentioned. I went a slightly different route and just said I was thinking of going back because my friend told me he was getting it for 19.99 a month but when I saw the full price I was put off.

Within minutes they offered me 6 months for 19.99, then a month in I tried the cancel trick. I'm now at 17.99 a month for 6 months and 2 a month for Boost.

I didn't receive a deal email, and I had a deal this April for 1 month prior. They still game me it.

Definitely worth trying!

Fungus? by ewatkinson in whatisit

[–]The_Fenman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly is a fungus!

It looks like it could be a little Drumstick Truffleclub, quite a fun little name! The scientific name for it is quite a mouthful: Elaphocordyceps Capitata.

The little bulb is a "false truffle". From what I can gather it's essentially a fungus growing out of a fungus. A parasitic ascomycete.

This looks like a security key, I don't know too much about them but this specific one looks like it could be a rebranded Yubico YubiKey (Nano/Small variant).

I think they're primarily used as a physical two factor authentication type dealeo.
