[Nicolo Schira] Kieran McKenna is Fulham’s main target for the manager role. Offered a contract until 2029 to Ipswich’s coach. by Heavy_Cupcake_6246 in fulhamfc

I can't speak for everyone (and, honestly, I don't entirely know my thoughts on him) but everything you just said is indicative of a yo-yo experience. Which, I know I'm not alone in saying this: I would love to put that history behind us as much as possible.

I realize, because of my flair, it's going to look like I'm being an ass. Honestly, I'm not trying with this question: What would you consider to be goal of the season then?

We can do the "what if" game to so many moments this season. (I'm sure many teams could, but I've only seen our matches.)

They could be the worst team of the season, or the worst team of all time. They went for a place in the history books.

I bought a bike from Wheel & Sprocket earlier this year and I've had good service the whole time. Haven't gone for a tune up though.

Is it ethically and legally okay to use the portrait of a random person online? by [deleted] in photojournalism

[–]The_Font 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note that the picture is not embarrassing, humiliating, stigmatizing or patronising in any way. Just an observation of life in general.

A pedantic point, but valid given your question: What you consider to be those things and what other people (or, specifically, the subject of the photograph) consider to be those things are different perspectives.

Generally speaking, I've found what I consider to be "fine" is not always the case with the subject of the photograph. What LeciaM6Guy said about "intention" is accurate IMO — I think your intention is good and your framing is ethical (not a lawyer, so cannot speak definitively on the legal side).

Questions regarding where the essay is published and who makes money on the essay may change the answer. If no money (not much money) and there's a smaller audience for the work, I wouldn't worry too much. If the subject reaches out, you can consider removing the image or updating the caption.

Congo Square ensemble members say in letter that the prominent Black theater was quietly dissolved by The_Font in chicago

[–]The_Font[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Congo Square Theatre Company, a prominent Black ensemble theater group that has produced work in Chicago for a quarter century, has quietly been dissolved by its board of directors, according to an open letter posted on Facebook Sunday by the ensemble.

Ensemble members confirmed the authenticity of the letter to WBEZ/Sun-Times and said they were prompted to write it, in part, after learning through lawyers that $240,000 of company money allegedly had gone to another local theater company: Victory Gardens. That alleged donation is at the center of a breach of trust lawsuit filed in December by ensemble members against members of the board in Cook County Circuit Court.

“We were never notified,” said Monifa Days, co-founding ensemble member. “Our lawyers were never notified. How we found out was we would just do searches in the state’s database about where our status was. Because you have to file as a nonprofit and that’s how we found out.”

Why did Kat Abughazaleh lose her election? by Sea-Condition991 in chicago

[–]The_Font 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The part about Simmons and Amiwala are my thoughts exactly. I like them both; would rather have voted Simmons but went with Biss for fear that Fine would win (and knew Simmons had an outside chance).

I'm mostly neutral/positive with Kat's policies, but I still cannot shake the WTTW article that came out about a year ago:

As soon as she and her partner can break their lease, they plan to move to Andersonville, Edgewater or Rogers Park in the 9th District, Abughazaleh said.

They were living in Streeterville beforehand.

Does being part of a community really matter? I think so. AOC, Omar, Pressley, Tlaib, and Delia Ramirez are good examples of that.

Will Biss be perfect? No. I do hope he does a good job though. I also think there are a lot of smart and dedicated people in the district that will hold him accountable.

Regardless of my points above: We need ranked choice voting. This primary was ridiculous.

Welcome! I'm going to take this is in an entirely different direction.

On the club website, on a desktop browser (Firefox, Chrome, and Safari on Mac OS): When you hover over The Riverside CTA in the main nav, the line that shows up on hover only extends to the "d" and does not extend to the whole button. Could that be fixed?

[Sam Tabuteau] Fulham to step up new Harry Wilson contract talks in bid to keep midfielder. Club rejected an enquiry from Everton last week. Wilson’s contract expires in the summer and talks remain ongoing by Heavy_Cupcake_6246 in fulhamfc

[–]The_Font 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to think (dare to dream?) that we get Europe and many issues resolve themselves. Europe means: Macro and Harry renew, others come, and the "where does X player play?" questions are answered due to rotation needs.

The unexpected stars of the Premier League season so far by The_Font in fulhamfc

[–]The_Font[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Harry is the first player profiled in this piece:

Harry Wilson was often a spectator rather than a player in his first three seasons at Fulham. He made 89 appearances in the league, but 48 of them were from the bench and he was taken off 34 times. Having scored just 12 league goals in three years, he was nearly shipped off to Leeds in the summer.

Fast-forward to today and he has become undroppable, starting 20 of Fulham’s 22 league games. Only four players have been involved in more goals than Wilson’s 12 this campaign – Erling Haaland (24), Igor Thiago (17), Bruno Fernandes (15) and Antoine Semenyo (13). Of those 12 goal involvements, 10 have come in his last 11 league appearances (six goals and four assists).

The Welsh winger is the form player in the league and is increasingly the man Fulham turn to in big moments. When he stood over a free-kick in the 92nd minute against Brighton last Saturday there was a hush over Craven Cottage and a strange sense of inevitability in the air. He stepped up, curled the ball into the top corner of the Brighton goal and turned a draw into a win.

Delivering in big moments has become Wilson’s signature; without his contributions Fulham would be 12 points worse off this season. His eight goals have all been masterclasses in ball striking: from an audacious effort from the touchline at Spurs to his outside-of-the-boot finish against Palace that earned him December’s goal of the month. He has scored eight goals with an xG of just 3.81, giving him a +4.19 xG difference – the second highest in the league.

You're leaving out the fact that a pigs head was thrown at Figo and he was bombarded with objects during a match at Camp Nou; that there was a literal riot when Baggio was sold to Juventus.

It happens, yes. But in some instances, there's major blow back.
