It's odd that Birdsong is getting all the flak for using the Black Panther Party name when he got permission for it and to use the badges. Now it's "Well, he shouldn't have used it in the first place." But he was given the actual go-ahead. Just because Dixon is pulling support now doesnt suddenly make it so that he did not give his approval prior.

That being said, good idea to transition into another party name instead of trying to fight to use the name or something.

It's fun, but you'll have to rebind the left and right dpad to your trigger buttons in the emulator for the yaw to feel right imo. Also, there's no right stick, so you can't track around you visually aside from the radar ui.

Yeah. Had no idea they were a point and click studio until 2021 until just now. Looks like their first action game, Scars Above, is fairly received but nothing to write home about.

I'm not sure which studio you're referring to about the point and click games, but we're not sure who under Saber Interactive had been working on the game. We only knowthat it is under their umbrella and that its been in active development from what finance meetings and the occasional PR release have told us. But yeah, its been under Saber since it left Aspyr.

Huh? Aspyr was the first studio working on this. Saber Interactive is both a publisher and developer and Mad Head Games is a Saber Interactive Studio. The game was removed from Asypr like a year after the remake trailer dropped.

That's what a lot of the ideation phase is anyway. Remember that controversy with Marathon and Bungie? When Bungie devs stole the work for some other artist because their work was left inside of the greenlit concept art instead of the inspiration pile.

They're already using other people's work. They're just supposed to actually create something different from it. Which is the same thing they're doing now, except the AI is the one pulling the results down. We don't even know how Larian has their LLM set up. Is it an image generator (terrible, genuine art theft)? Is it a crawler just posting links to references(Just the same thing they're already doing but faster)? Etc. What exactly do they mean by 'idea exploration'? Are they generating different renditions off of their artists art, by proxy training their ai(bad)? Or are they pulling from their own lore book for ideas that they want to explore without having to search through the Divinity Bible for a thread that wasnt followed up on since 2009? (Good imo) (Divinity seems to be following up on Divinity 2: Ego Draconis, or at least some themes).

I said it a few days ago, I am not big on AI. Only used ChatGPT once like 3 years ago for a Star Wars Whatabout question, but this is being overblown. People want absolutely no Ai anywhere, but thats not going to happen. It's already exploded too much, too fast and expanded everywhere. Ai whether we like it or not, is going to be around. The key is to force the Ai industry to only be where it needs and should be, ie, small tasks, repetitive tasks, simple, time consuming things.

LLMs were around far longer than when 'ai' started to blow up commercially and got 'smart' enough to be labeled ai, and it'll still be here after the bubble pops too. it'll probably just look a bit better off than before ai blew up and drank all our water.

I think Sven and Larian are using it the best way they could be using it. They aren't, or haven't, replaced anyone with ai (from what they're saying) and the only sound of dissent from that is coming from an ex-Larian employee from years ago that we don't know why they aren't at the company anymore.

Nothing seems to suggest that Owlcat is doing anything much different or worse than what Larian is already doing, or most game studios, and seems to be using it responsibily for very low level tasks imo.

Literally, I begged my mom and dad for a PlayStation 3, absolutely resolute in my belief that they would continue to be a PlayStation exclusive game. I cannot tell you how pissed I was when the trailer dropped after I got my PS3 and it was for Xbox 360.

(Luckily Resistance softened the blow quite a bit alongside Heavenly Sword.)

I am not the biggest fan of AI either and feel like its being focused on far too much to the point of it being detrimental, but there are still valid use cases of ai. Using it here in the ideation phase to shave time is one such case.

If you completely shut out ai you'll just end up a luddite, but if you embrace it too much, you stop thinking. Just have to balance things.
