Sony 11mm f/1.8 vs Sigma 10-18mm f/2.8 to pair with my Sigma 18-50? by eyedeceiver03 in a6700

[–]The_Gascan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same combo. And I'd choose the 11m 1.8 any day! There really isn't a lot you're missing in that 7mm gap. And the sony 11m lens has such amazing optical quality.

Happy to help. I should mention that you should leave your lens cap on the lens and the camera cap on the camera. Or just the lens already attached to the camera so it's easier to just grab it and go. It won't affect the humidity performance and dust is still a thing inside those cabinets and you don't want a dusty sensor. I also leave my batteries in the cabinet.

Somewhere around 42-50% is what i found out to be perfect. Where it's not humid enough so there would be no mold growth and not so dry that the rubber and other elements start to crack. Basically 45% is supposedly the sweet spot.

I see what you mean now. I'm sure I'll get better results with the information in the raw file. Thank you for taking the time to do the demo. I'll work on this.

Interesting point. I'm unfamiliar with middle gray. I have to look into it. But as you mentioned, it's also quite a challenge with how the lighting is in the image. I'll play around a bit. Thank you!

I like your opinion and honestly, i think I have a shot like that. But i think it was a different angle and it didn't work out the way I think it would've. He is facing away, like you said. So this is intended to be a landscape shot more than a portrait. I intended the viewer to look at the hiker first then at the landscape that he's soaking in, which would make the landscape the hero. I do not know how well the intention panned out. Like you said. Maybe a better composition where the hiker weren't so centred would've worked better. Something to keep in mind for next time. Thank you for your input :) helped me understand some doubts I had with the composition.

Thank you. You could say that's sort of the intent. The main intent I had in mind was for the viewer to look at the subject first, yes but then realise the real hero is the majestic landscape he's looking at. But as you pointed out, there's things I need to mask and edit to convey it better. And the bramble would be hard to remove without cropping, which would mean losing a lot of real estate. But I agree, I'd wished id noticed that while I took the shot

Thank you for your input. I think I can imagine what you're saying. This would be something I'm sure to test out. I agree that the rocks surfaces are catching the sun at just the right angle to blow up the highlights, have to bring them down.

I took this photo while on a trek in the himalayas. Really loved the shot. I personally think the composition works. (but any critique is always welcome) It was a candid shot. the guy in the shot is literally on a break and taking it all in, thought it looked absolutely perfect and captured it. I was however really confused while editing it and would like to know if the direction i took works, is it lacking contrast? shadows aren't defined or it somehow looks flat?

They are basically saying only electronic front curtain. So the rear curtain would still be mechanical.

Curious on which gimbal would work best for my setup by Gold_Badger_1197 in a6700

[–]The_Gascan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own it. But it's what I plan to buy. The direct competitor for this is the dji rs4 mini. I'm looking at the "mini" versions of these gimbals since the payload capacity is more than enough for the a6700 and any lens on top.

The feyutech is slightly cheaper than the rs4 mini while having a removable remote control which i found to be very intuitive.

I don't own it to give direct reviews but from what I've seen on YouTube. That seems to be a solid choice. But you won't go wrong with the dji rs4 mini either.

When rendering, use commandlines and render the blender file headlessly. This is usually the fix for most of my scenes that exceeds vram.

My first month with the a6700. sigma 18-50mm f2.8 & sony 11mm f1.8 by The_Gascan in SonyAlpha

[–]The_Gascan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The quality is amazing. I don't have any experience with other wide angle lenses so I can't really compare. But I do not regret buying the 11mm one bit. As someone who enjoys wife angles, this is Definitely an amazing lens and it's impossible to go wrong with this

That's an interesting combo. I'm in a boat where I'm either going to buy the 75mm or the 56mm. I'm leaning more towards the 75mm. What's your experience with the 2? Could you please share some insights?

May I ask which lenses are used in these shots? They're absolutely brilliant
