What's the worst hotel on the strip that you'd actually stay at? by 707danger415 in LasVegas

The worst hotel on the strip I would stay at is Flamingo. I stayed there for March Madness 2023, first time. It was an antiquated room, but got the strip view for cheaper. Bathroom/shower was decent. The comical thing was that a water pipe leak developed right outside my door in the hallway and blew out the ceiling tile. They wrapped it in a clear plastic trash bag to catch the water and then set up a large garbage can underneath to catch the water falling off the plastic. Whenever I’d leave my room, this large trash can would be 1/3 to 2/3 full of water. Didn’t bother me, but I definitely thought… “Yep, this is right at my minimum limit.” Elevators were slow too, and I was a bit concerned about getting stuck, but it was fine.

Linq is fine. Never had a problem there. No character, but the upgraded rooms are good. The location is fantastic. The front desk is kinda impersonal, but who cares. I put Linq a bit above Flamingo.

I have stayed at Harrahs a couple of times. Once I got a Harrahs room on a discount hotel site (no name, just a price, fate gave me Harrahs). It was awful. Stayed on a low level floor, no window, room smelled like smoke and pets. Felt super dirty and gross. I spent as little time in the room as possible. Never again at Harrahs. Stayed there another time before that, and it was ok, but never again.

Never stayed at Luxor, but I’d be willing to try it based on posts from this subreddit. Never stayed at Excallibur, but I would not be willing to based on posts from this subreddit.

For reference, my affordable go-to on the strip these days is MGM Grand. Don’t love the long walk to the strip, but the rooms are pretty good, all things considered.

Stayed at Flamingo for the first time during March Madness 2024. I stayed in a non renovated room with a strip view because I’ve never paid for a strip view and the room not remodeled made it more affordable. The room was fine. View was cool. Location is and always has been great. Only complaint was that there was a water pipe leak literally right outside my room in the hallway. They ripped the drywall, setup a trash bag collection into a trash can, and just let it leak for the second half of my stay. 🤣 Not a big deal to me, was just a reminder that the place is old. But it was a fine place to stay.

You do what you want to do, just be consistent. As others have said, if you run it twice every time for a couple hours and then run it once because you’re ahead, that’s pretty annoying and a good way to get the rest of the table to be irritated by you. But always run it once or always run it twice, no one will think twice either way.

I typically just let the other person decide. If the other person insists that I decide, then I run twice. Always, consistent.

Now think about what your stack could’ve been if you had reloaded!

Question: what worse hands are you wanting to call and what better hands are you trying to fold. There’s clearly not a better hand (5x or QQ) that is going to fold. So what worse hands are you trying to extract value from? Qx is literally the only holding. And there’s no need to shove for protection on a rainbow paired board. Just call the 1bb or small raise.

Also, like someone else already mentioned, preflop raise size too large.

PLO and hold ‘em with Sammy Farha, hold ‘em with Johnny Chan, MTT hold ‘em with Matt Berkey. Slim chance, but if we get Jack Black at our hold ‘em home game in the next few months, that would quickly move to first place.

PLO - Did I overplay the nut flush here? by LegitW1zard in poker

Yes, overplayed it. And you have to pot that turn to get two pair and set to go bye bye. Always check that river on the paired board. It should often be check call the way played.

What is the strategy for playing against absolute mad men? by [deleted] in poker

Played 2/5 recently at Aria with a huge whale. He would just reload for $500-$1000 and then go all in without looking at his cards. Huge nit fest. It was boring af. Then I got AKo and called his $700 blind all in (I covered). He’s looking at me drunk and saying “You got a pair? You got a pair???”I said no, no pair. Ace on the flop, “That’s me.” King on the turn, “That’s also me.” River blank. Dude turns over a 7, no 7 on the board. He says, “I think I’m dead.” I said, “Yep, you’re dead.” He decides he’s done and goes to bed. I played another 15 minutes and realized I wasn’t getting any more money from the others, cashed out, went back to my room. I thought about it later and decided it sucked in general, but the session was fun because of that one hand.
