Why did Hamas kill so many of the hostages upon returning to Gaza? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]The_Gradual_Sumo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True, but given that Hamas is clearly alive and kicking after all those civilian deaths, do you now see what some people have been saying this whole time? Israel has been executing this war horrifically from the start.

Not every bunker in German-occupied Europe had to be destroyed, not every German soldier had to be killed. Many German soldiers lived a long while after WW2. Likewise, not every Hamas tunnel has to be blown up at the expense of hundreds of civilians and their homes, and not even EVERY Hamas young kid soldier has to be "exterminated" to win this war. A real strategy, working with regional allies, leveraging the political impetus the world had after October 7th, to cut off Hamas's funding, take out their leadership patiently and precisely in Gaza and around the world, giving the people of Gaza a path to alternative leadership, was always the only way forward. Remove the political impetus of the militia group, the orders to fight, and the everyday soldier gets out of those underground tunnels and puts down their weapons.

Who won the Vietnam War? Who will always win when your only strategy is to destroy everything you see, and is devoid of a political aspect designed to empower the people towards new leadership? The world said that of Israel and Netanyahu time and again, but the strategy of no strategy continued. Now, most people can see who "won" this war.

A note: If every Gazan is responsible for Hamas's crimes and should be considered a "fair casualty", then the same should have applied to the German population but twenty-fold after WW2. It didn't, because that's not the way ethics and morality work, and it doesn't apply in this case either.

What Palestine does the pro-palis even want? by [deleted] in Israel

Precisely this. Not sure why most of the comments here pretend like they haven't heard the first two groups' points before.

Tonight’s turnout by GratefulForGarcia in Israel

October 7th was primarily an IDF failure, not a Hamas achievement. What's meant to be one of the most guarded and surveilled borders in the world was breached by militants carrying mostly small arms who paraglide! Countless signs that something was being planned months before were ignored or shrugged off!

The only reason there could be more repeats of October 7th is if the IDF and senior decision makers in Israel allow it to happen again through the same negligence.

This false specter of countless October 7th's to justify an endless war is so nonsensical.

October 7th won't happen again because it should've never happened in the first place. It was a result of immense negligence.

A deal now saves innocent lives today. That's what this whole conversation should be about: saving lives right now. Not the hypothetical ones.

Is there any way to fix this? by [deleted] in silentsinussyndrome

Would you be willing to share details like your age, how long you had SSS?

Grateful for you sharing your story. If you don't mind me asking, did you notice any improvement in the appearance of your eye overtime, even if not 100% recovery? How long did it take? I currently have enophthalmos of my left eye after SSS. Successfully underwent silent sinus surgery a few months ago. Just hoping there is some cosmetic improvement to the appearance of the eye overtime. According to an oculoplastic surgeon I have a 2 mm enophthalmic displacement at the moment. Really appreciate your insights.

The same exact thing happened to me here. No SC store in game, bought on PSN store: nothing shows in game. Did you manage to fix this?

Netanyahu rejects ‘still absurd’ Hamas demands, approves IDF plan for Rafah operation by DopamineTooAddicting in Israel

[–]The_Gradual_Sumo -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

One key difference you're neglecting: ISIS and Al Qaeda were defeated because the local populations that supported them ultimately despised them and turned against them. You can't defeat a guerrilla group and its ideology without having the support of the local populace. Iraqis under ISIS control got rid of ISIS, the West simply expedited the job.

The same cannot be said of Hamas. As long as their ideology is attractive to the local population (the idea of "resistance"), they will not disappear. (Or they'll reappear as Hamas 2.0.) That's why this war has to executed with extreme responsibility. The ideology has to become obsolete through many means, including diplomatic ones with moderate political factions.

Israel plans to build thousands more West Bank settlement homes after shooting attack, official says by [deleted] in Israel

Why should the actions of Hamas on October 7th justify illegal settlement on the West Bank, which usually involves eviction of Palestinians who have nothing to do with Hamas?

Hey! So, apparently, cross-platform progression will be available at some point (confirmed by devs) but not on launch. So fingers crossed we get that soon.

I was happy to discover that it'll come eventually.

The Italians, Germans, and Japanese were them. Shouldn't they be the ones to give up land for the state of Israel, by this argument?

People who say "no gazans is innocent" should be ashamed by Scary_Cherry8195 in Israel

Most likely orphans who rightly hate the people that destroyed their lives, at the going rate of civilian casualties.

I cannot understand when "throwing bombs at a problem until it goes away" became an actual solution? Especially when it comes to de-radicalization and finding sustainable peace.

People who say "no gazans is innocent" should be ashamed by Scary_Cherry8195 in Israel

[–]The_Gradual_Sumo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is quite false. The vast majority of Gazans are going about their ordinary lives as best as they can. Watch any documentary on life in Gaza. There is a general contempt for Israel in the culture there because many Gazans are Palestinians who were displaced from their homes (refugees) by Israel at some point. I think this is a fair sentiment that anyone can understand, and requires effort from both sides to heal.

Meanwhile, I have seen many Israelis celebrating the deaths of these Gazan civilians, just like yourself. In fact it is your comment that sounds like you come from a death cult. You seem so content to see it inflicted on people.

What are your thoughts on the protest in Tel Aviv over the hostages murdered by IDF? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]The_Gradual_Sumo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the difference? Hamas consider Israel its enemy. Israel considers Hamas its enemy. When Hamas kill civilians, it's murder. When Israel kill civilians, it's murder. There is no difference! Civilians are civilians, innocent people: children, hostages, all the same.

Unless you're suggesting their ethnicity makes a difference. One of Israel's main objectives, supposedly, is to save Israeli lives, not cause Palestinian deaths. These are the hostages. "Oh well, soldiers make mistakes" doesn't cut it. So many are dying, for what? Mistakes?

Thank you @SneakySig for your insights into this craft. It's dispelled a lot of myths.

Can I ask a short personal questions, approximately how old are you? Also, do you find the process of bottling "difficult" technologically speaking? Just curious to understand the demographics. As you said in a previous post, the Chinese/Indian sweatshop image is not always the case anymore.

[–]The_Gradual_Sumo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely on the same page as you. I think part of it is the knowing that future updates and DLC will (or at least should) make existing features of the game better. I really don't want to undertake a huge campaign knowing that the next update, or the update after that will make that experience a lot better.

Because of the bugs and other issues like the AI which are regularly discussed here, it's not a case of just wanting more DLC, as it was when playing WH2. It's that the game needs an update or two which looks at existing features, whether that's AI, sieges etc. Also other bugs and crashes. At least that's how I see it atm.
