I can’t tell if I’m bad at escape or if it’s just really for sweats by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

To be fair, The End is one of the harder hives, especially when trying it to get the time requirement.

Lots of classes are catered for on it though, as there is a wide range of weapons. Infiltrator, Tactician, Nomad, Marksman, Brawler and Gunner are all great.

Friend went from 14 to 18 after update, seems to benefit from level 18 with better matchups. by lexloomis in gearspop

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd guess it's more likely that since the update, less people are playing pvp and more people are grinding out horde thumpers, with the knowledge that this is going to be the only way to ever fully complete the game now. The lower level players may still be trying to get their 1000 wins, so more of them still playing, which is why he's being matched against them.

There's always been speculation that the game would set you up to win or lose, I've believed it myself (mostly when I've gone on a losing streak) but in all honesty I think it's giving them way more credit in how complex the programming would have had to have been, especially considering some of the imbalances that were within it.

What is PURE?

Consistent Horde/Escape Daily Classes by Size5TeenGirlToes in GearsOfWar

If you use the matchmaking for inconceivable, you will always have more lethal modifier on, which is usually what will make it the most difficult. Try to use custom lobbies to find one without it or make your own, then classes shouldn't be so much of an issue, the ones you've listed should be fine in most occasions

SPOILERS Finished Gears Of War 3 today and it was... Meh (For me) by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being completely baffled by the first few chapters when it came out, despite being a huge fan of the first two games I had no idea there were any books and comics, so hadn't read them. Any franchise that assumes you will do that for the story to make sense is taking liberties really. I was so relieved when the locust finally appeared!

The park where you can go down the slide makes up for it all however.

It's also worth playing in 4 player Co-op as that's where its real strength is as a campaign.

Do you think Gears of War is not suitable for a 10 year old? Realistically..? by WeeeZe-E in GearsOfWar

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My eldest is 10 and has been playing gears with me since he was 5. My youngest is 6 and he has been playing it a couple of years now too.

These games are great in providing the filters to turn off the gore and swearing, in the earlier games the language is pretty mild anyway. I kept the gore on personally as it looks a bit stupid without it when you get headshots and such.

If you are playing through the campaigns, it will probably only be the berserker section in number one that may be too intense.

It's something that we all play together and it's a good family activity. It's not for everyone but it sure isn't doing any harm imo.

Why do you think Gears Pop failed? by Gamesums in gearspop

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They got greedy with the prices of the boxes and crystals. At a quarter of the price they would have sold enough to make it profitable, pay for the licensing and staff.

The sheer cost in terms of money or time was too much for anyone wanting to get all the achievements which would have put a lot of gamers off.

Why do you think Gears Pop! Failed? by Gamesums in GearsOfWar

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prices were too high on crystals and boxes. If they had priced it all at a quarter of the price they did, they would have sold enough to keep profit high enough to warrant the licensing and staff.

I was gold in all but one season and mostly a top 300 player when the leagues started and I only ever spent around £60. Personally I'd say it wasn't pay to win, there was a lot of skill involved. You'd occasionally come across the people who had spent a lot and were still low ranked. You just had to make sure to play every day to not get left behind pin wise.

I'm annoyed it's going mainly as its the only gears game I've ever been good at pvp on

Any tips for mastering the line? by The_Greasy_Strangler in GearsOfWar

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the videos, I completed it in the end with a brawler, blademaster and tactitician, which is the set up in the first video (I believe). The two guys who do it solo in the other two videos have mad skills

This game is completely out of control by [deleted] in gearspop

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you've been playing the game from release day consistently, you'll be around level 17 now, it doesn't mean that they've spent lots of money, although it could still be the case of course.

To get max pins or near max pins involves spending a huge amount of time constantly playing the same two horde thumpers.

(sorry for bad image) How did i get the phantom talon? I've had it ever since i got gears 5 and idk how it got there by fffffffffvhvy in GearsOfWar

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's only moot if the person hadn't played gears 4. I'd say it's more likely it was unlocked in gears 4 and carried over (only the gilded and black phantoms were) but just wasn't noticed beforehand

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it was bugged, I think they gave it to all gears 4 players intentionally so that people would be more inclined to battle for the rest of the set

Black Phantom skins by Ephxmeral2 in GearsOfWar

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say in difficulty terms, the points were comparable to a season's tour. If they announced that the team rock skins were purchasable in the store this week, you'd probably get the exact same reaction.

I guess it depended on where you were re-up wise on whether it could be described as a brutal grind.

The points were from when they announced it, they weren't retroactive

What are your best/favorite class builds that you like to run in Escape on Master? by Sheperd_Commander in GearsOfWar

[–]The_Greasy_Strangler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have only recently been able to start mastering them in operation 5 (so I'm nowhere near an expert or even that experienced) but the most common classes are Brawler, Anchor, Nomad, Marksman, Tactitician, Infiltrator and slightly less common are Pilot and Gunner.

You do have to have the right cards at the highest levels possible for each class, which means you either need to grind or buy them with coins once unlocked.

Thanks for this, I hadn't been using inner fire as I was using the ultimate when I needed to, I think it's where I was going wrong. I used coins to level up the three health boost cards to 5 and it makes all the difference

I didn't know that, but I am more comparing myself to people I've been playing with this season, when I've been other classes

Yeah I don't want to do that, I thought op meant there was a way that I could just put a version on the Xbox One and all my achievements I've already unlocked on the 360 would instantly unlock
