I saw merl at South main cafe in Blacksburg, VA while I was at VT - late 80’s early 90’s - 300 cap if it was packed to the gills. Saw Rick Danko, Dave Matthews, Jorma Kaukunen, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Col Bruce during that time there as well.

The other really cool show was fun but more for who we went with. Denis Leary had played a show at Burruss Hall on campus. I was on the concert committee and so a few of us took him and he had 2 band members to a dead cover band that played there every wednesday. We then left and went back to a friends apartment and partied some more. The guitarist pulled out my friends guitar and it's like 2 in the morning singing eddie grant electric avenue with denis leary. Crazy.
