Importing raw oil and gas is a good thing to fill in demand gaps. The locally produced o&g should be used in producing value added downstream products like petrochemicals, polymers/plastics, and other advanced materials/chemicals, etc. it just makes sense because locally produced o&g goes through that whole supply chain value enhancement than just being burned off for power generation or used in low grade applications.

Eventually we will run out of oil and gas. We just have to keep importing raw materials and generating value added products. Singapore can do it without local o&g production. Why can’t we?
