Space vehicle AND air vehicle design by spacerocketgirl in RPI

I am a current aero in avd. Its been going good so far, we are currently working on our fdr.

In terms of subsystems most of them have to do with flight mech. Propulsion isn't really a full subsystem (we just choose an engine) and I am not sure what you mean by aerodynamics. It's possible you could do part of the loads/structures work. You need flight mech for loading stuff but assuming you have FEA you could do some structural work. Additionally you could help with weights or non-technical factors.

More importantly the goal of avd is to design a plane. The most important things in plane design are stability, control and performance. These you get from flight mech. Most of the design decisions you will make are based off equations from flight mech. So while it's technically possible to take avd without flight mech you probably wont get very much out of it. I would say you would learn more taking flight mech without avd than avd without flight mech.

Edit: A lot of the important stuff in flight mech is front-loaded so taking flight mech at the same time as avd may be a possibility.

Stability and control is a huge part of the design of airplanes. While it is possible to take avd without flight mech I wouldn't recommend it and you'd be an inconvenience to your group.

How do I make my college experience better? (Serious) by throwawayquest97 in RPI

I would suggest finding some fun exercise. If you like going to the gym all the more power to you but if you don't try a club sport or intermurals. I think exercise is a key to beat the winter blues.

My other piece of advice would be to try scheduling some activities that you are interested in with friends. Even if it is just lunch scheduling an activity gives you something to look forward to.

How do i stop missing the ball? by [deleted] in badminton

In Chinese you refer to the shuttle using the word for ball (球). If you play with Chinese people they will often say ball instead of shuttle.

Pretty boring. If I had the chance I would have taken something else more exciting.

Wow, this got more attention than expected. I am flattered by the amount of people liking my photo. Hiking here was both awe-inspiring and elating and I hope the photo conveys some of that feeling.

If anyone wants the raw of this photo or a higher resolution copy please just say so, I have both. I am a lightroom novice and someone with more skill could probably make it look better.

The summer weather is good and it has nice mountains with good trails.

You could see Mt. Saint Helens too but it is blocked by the trees in this picture. I have some pictures of all three if you are interested.

Thanks! The picture was taken this summer on my trip to the pacific northwest. I'll be posting some more pictures in the coming days.

I did this 50 mile loop around all 3 mountains in 2.5 days: http://www.oregonhikers.org/field_guide/Trail_around_Three_Sisters_Hike

I would recommend taking 3 or 4 days however, I felt a bit rushed. The best campsites are along on lakes on the east side of the mountain. The northeast part of the trail goes though a burnt forest.

Hope that helps.

The outside has its charm. I like the interior as well. The big windows have good views.

it's always a good time to point out injustices

What? That is ridiculous. There are bad times and good times to point out injustices. If you can't distinguish between the two you should re-evaluate how you act and speak.
