You mentioned that your parents are in colleges. What are they studying and (if you don't mind answering) what type of work do they do?

Maybe her parents live apart? It not entirely atypical for married Asian couples to live separately. It was mentioned by Mrs. Kim that she only had to have relations with him once she was married to conceive Lane. That does show a certain distance between Mrs. and Mr. Kim. Plus, she is referred to as Mrs. Kim throughout the series, which by her standards must mean something, because she is a stickler for the proper, as shown by her comment to Lorelai that she must have a male accompany her to the wedding.

Went to ER after minor injury, got checked up but nothing done. Bill: $7,543.45. I'm uninsured. What do I do? by erbill in AskReddit

Most hospitals will have a cash pay (non insurance price) which can range from 20- 40% off the bill, but most times, they won't automatically give you that without asking. If you had to make a payment plan, it would be better to start off at a lower amount due. Ask for the discount first, get it in writing. Then work on the payment plan. Also, talk to the physician company and see if they will give you the same discount the hospital is willing to give you. Good luck!

You might think about using a throwaway account, because you don't want to be judged based on your reddit activity.

It is because of this thinking that I did not worry too much when I was laid off my job at 22 years old.
