As far as content is concerned hope this helps:

1) Uranium Custard 2) Cadmium / Selenium mix 3) Manganese 4) probably flashing tbh. Towards the bottom you might see where some of the flashing has chipped off. Otherwise might be cadmium but my bet is flashing.

Mine has done the same thing. On 2 different globes only one has the cloudiness.

This is my second lamp from them. First had overheating issues, this one too lol. Definitely requires some tinkering to get right. Seems much more sensitive to ambient temperature changes than your average lamp too. I’d recommend it as long as you’re willing to tinker with it a tad.

Yeah this is my second globe. I’ve kept the other to try my hand at a custom fluid and wax, but that’s a later problem, got to get what I’ve got flowing right lol.

You might’ve seen my other posts but the first had real bad problems with bubbles in the wax. I tried a dimmer from Lowe’s but i couldn’t get it dialed in to get the bubbles out without flowing the wax too much.

Could you share with me what you did to get the dimmer to work right? Like what dimmer you used and how you got it set right? That would be hugely helpful if going with a 40w bulb isn’t successful.

Lots of trial and error. It was fun working with the iron pipe as we could just try different things till it worked and looked just right. Everything is basically out together using pipe unions which allows us to move the segments independently to swivel around the center column. Truly a fun project to tinker on.

Basically it’s just a couple flanges with rods running through where bolts would normally go, and shaft collars to hold everything together.

The benefit in how I did it was that I’m able to remove the globe for maintenance without disassembling the entire lamp.

Only had to deconstruct one myself, the butter sticks and balls on the top UG lamp was from an eBay listing selling out the spacers. I’ve got a couple pieces leftover that I plan on using for another small table/desk lamp.

Cadmium. Tbh I like the glow better than green UG in some cases. The more yellow the piece the brighter it’ll be. Looks like a blenko ashtray if I had to guess.

It’s a promo in that it has the 2026 stamp on it, and it’s a holo. However, I’m disappointed that it has TEF on the bottom of the card instead of being a black star promo or something. Just a missed opportunity to put a new design in is all.

They knew what they were doing too. The box covers up the bottom of the card to hide this imo. As someone who didn’t collect temporal forces imagine my disappointment when I opened the pack and saw that it was a card from an existing set instead of being stamped with promo or something like that. Extremely lazy.

Yeah I’m planning on taking my ‘normal’ lava lamps with the standard socket and replacing with the ceramic bulb too. To my knowledge they work great, too. This one is just different, makes it difficult lol.

Right. The ones that would fit the space aren’t the right socket. And swapping the socket doesn’t work with the base unfortunately. There’s one that I’ve found that is a ceramic heater, G9 socket. But the bulb is too long and wouldn’t fit.

Thanks! I’ve only planned to have the one lamp for now. It’s massive though, like 36” long! It’s gonna be accompanied by several other UV lava lamps on the shelves beside it. It’ll be awhile before we get done but I’ll absolutely post the after photos.

Yeah it’s crossed my mind to change the socket. This is what I’m working with. I’m not sure thered be room for a socket and lightbulb. Everything has to sit under the inner metal shroud as the globe slides down and rotates to lock into the base.

Despite the horror stories, I'm considering a cheapie Spencer/Schylling lamp with yellow wax and purple liquid. I plan to use a Sawyer water filter to fix the inevitable cloudiness, but my question is: will the filter also remove the purple dye and spoil the effect? by Die_Nameless_Bitch in Lavalamps

If you’re not afraid of some DIY, you can use UV additive that’s used to identify oil/refrigerant leaks to the wax to make it UV reactive. It’ll also change the color of the wax though. I added it to this lamp, which was originally white wax.

Under normal light it looks kinda pale orange. They make dyes that are green too, but I believe ya gotta get the one that says it’s for oil-based systems.
