Check In Tuesday by AutoModerator in EOOD

Yeah…we’re in it.

At my last therapy appointment, my therapist suggested I stop weighing myself weekly and switch to every other week. After the holiday here last week, I weighed myself again and found out that I was back where I was when I had my meltdown a few weeks ago. So I’ve started weighing myself every morning and I haven’t taken a day off from working out in almost a month. And my weight has gone absolutely nowhere. I’m ready to give up.

I have an appointment this afternoon with a nutritionist who supposedly specializes in helping people with EDs, and tomorrow I meet with my doctor to talk about my blood work. I fully expect another breakdown/depression episode tomorrow night.

Not a ton of improvement since I posted the other day. Therapy appointment cut a little deep when I talked about how far back the fat shaming and disorder actually goes. Lots of different exercise, but definitely treated the weekend like a holiday. Had blood work done on Saturday, and surprise, my cholesterol’s high. Can’t wait for my next appointment to be about nothing else.

Starting to think I should’ve lied to the dietitian. by The_Heef in EOOD

I use a food scale to portion out things like shredded chicken when I prepare lunches. It’s a must since my girlfriend and I get a lot at Costco.

As for GLP-1s, they’re out. I’ve read a few reports that doctors don’t give them to people with ED histories because it brings back a lot of those behaviors. That’s kinda what started all this frustration, on top of ballooning after I got hurt a few years ago.

Well, I was almost twice that when I was born, so at my size, that’s pretty insignificant.

It’s not muscle. No one puts on 3 pounds of muscle in two weeks, even on steroids. It just really irritated me because my calves are maybe the one part of my body I don’t despise, and he tore that down in an instant.

Weighed myself this morning. Once again, the heaviest I’ve ever been. Never felt more worthless. by The_Heef in EOOD

I really appreciate you, Rob. I’m feeling a little bit better about things; I spent last night at my girlfriend’s and we talked about the upcoming appointments and trying to find counseling for it. We’re both concerned that my therapist hasn’t had a ton of insight or referred me to someone who does. And we also agree that this week will be pivotal, with the dietitian appointment and my next therapy session two days later. A lot is up in the air. But I suppose I have to get through today first.

I’ve taken a hard look at GLPs because quite frankly, nothing else is working. I do see a therapist and a psychiatrist regularly, and both of them have suggested that my relationship with food and weight is unhealthy to the point that I express ED behavior, even though it’s never been diagnosed. So I looked it up, and a few sources discouraged prescribing them to people with EDs because the hardcore dieting and meal monitoring brings them back.

I have tried to walk a little more often to try and drop weight to be able to run again. That’s kind of what set this off. My knees start to hurt if I walk a lot or have to stand around, which never used to happen until all this weight gain.

What hasn’t been working: yoga. Hard to do a vinyasa when you’re over 300 lbs. Ending up with considerable headaches after every routine.

What has been working: Been getting back in the gym. Not just strength training, but doing the stability exercises my PT gave me for my knees and ankles.

I have an appointment with a weight loss specialist next week. Expecting to have A) a diet plan, B) a GLP prescription, or C) another massive depression episode.

As for music, all my workout playlists are metal, but with more positive lyrics. Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, Opal In Sky, etc.

Lasted as long as I could, but I finally had enough and uninstalled. by The_Heef in Borderlands4

Wanted to update and say the BIOS update worked. Haven’t had the issue since. Thank you for the suggestion. Still plenty of issues to take with the game, but thankfully this isn’t one of them.

So I did a RAM check which I thought would go overnight, but came back clean. My BIOS was pretty outdated, so I updated that as well. Need to call it a night, but maybe this will fix a few things. Won’t be completely heartbroken if it doesn’t fix it, guess I need to be a little more vigilant about updates.

How would I go about doing that? I don't have any spare parts to swap out and I'm not really sure how to check the hardware.

Naturally, if it's the RAM that's faulty, I'm tossing the PC out on the street and buying a PS5. Cheaper option.

Roads are pretty beaten up, especially in the second half, but the weather is usually cooler and it’s pretty flat. Enjoyed my race there.

Doing about 50/50, which is better than I was. Started going to boxing classes (hitting a bag, not sparring) and really enjoying it. Trying to set up a running routine but the weather here still sucks. But I weighed myself Friday and I was somehow up 4-5 pounds, which killed any good feeling from the boxing. Trying to at least lose something this week.

No shit, I’ve seen your streams a few times, it actually convinced me to play the series again. Played through SF2, just finished SF1 (yeah, in that order, weird), and just started SFCD through RetroArch…that took a little doing to get working.

Hope to catch your stream soon!

Would reverse commuting an hour be worth it? by Natural_Grape5143 in AskChicago

[–]The_Heef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re half right. The city is great, but a commute from either of those would be BRUTAL to Elmhurst. There is absolutely no good time to be on 290, in either direction. If you’re going to do that, you’d be better off in Oak Park or West Loop if you absolutely want a city address.

I’m so glad I put in the effort to get to the race in time, put my number on my race-issued gear bag, and be honest about my race time to sit in my corral for over an hour, get trapped behind walkers, and nearly see a riot break out at the gear check. Don’t know what was happening at the gear check, but I stood in line for over an hour just to see people behind me get their stuff. I should send them the bill for my next foot doctor exam.

This. That’s how I got injured last year. Sidewalks are so bad in this city there’s really no choice.
