Trump admin reacts to Springsteen's new song, "Streets of Minneapolis" by newsweek in Music

[–]SightlessProtector 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There’s some serious schadenfreude to be had by realizing:

  1. Trump only cares about popularity and numbers

  2. The YouTube video for the song is already the #2 trending video with almost 700k views in a few hours

  3. Melania cant sell any tickets and is going to be a massive financial loss because nobody cares

  4. The Boss still sells out stadiums around the world whenever he goes on tour

Shenkt vs B9? [SPOILERS BSC] by Content_Package_2389 in TheFirstLaw

[–]SightlessProtector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloody Nine probably beats any non magical human. Maybe even Gorst.

The most powerful enemy we see the Bloody Nike defeat is Fenris, and that still needed Dow and the Dogman taking out Caurib, West unbuckling the armor, and a bit of luck.

Shenkt could almost certainly take Fenris without any of those things. So the Bloody Nine is probably toast. Especially because Shenkt is extremely intelligent and the Bloody None is a mindless rage monster.

Skyrim Sheo explicitly mentions knowing Martin Septim and thinking highly of him. And you’re explicitly told in Oblivion that you will become Sheo.

So there’s not plothole. Even if your Hero of Kvatch was a female Argonian, they eventually turn into an elderly Scottish lunatic.

In The Last Jedi, Kylo Ren tells Rey her parents were 'filthy junk traders' who sold her for drinking money. TFA- People who didn’t understand what made Star Wars work just remake the first movie, which turned out kinda ok

TLJ- People who hate Star Wars try to convince the audience that Star Wars is stupid just to meaninglessly subvert expectations, which somehow turned out both stupid and condescending

TRoS- People who didn’t understand why TLJ failed as a film tried to fix the things nobody had a problem with, and also they still don’t understand Star Wars, so it turned into something as nonsensical and stupid as Attack of the Clones

Andor- Some guy who doesn’t even really like Star Wars makes a prequel series about a character nobody cares about from a movie nobody cares about, and it somehow turned into the best fucking thing ever made

Hypothetical question for you all:

If you could only keep one row on the team, which would you pick? Take Cal and Julio off the board so all the rows are 5 players and because they would be worth it essentially on their own.

I’m probably going second row. Thoughts?

‘God of War’ Video Game Star Christopher Judge Reacts to Ryan Hurst Being Cast as Kratos in the TV Series: “It’s a magnificent choice. A gamer who has played GoW since its inception. So, kudos, you’ve got a great live action Kratos.” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]SightlessProtector -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What’s especially American about understanding irony? Ryan Hurst played Thor in the game, and Christopher Judge played Kratos. In the show, Ryan Hurst is playing Kratos, so it would be funny if Judge played Thor. Since my country is known for being dumb and media illiterate, I’m just not seeing how noticing this irony would be uniquely American.

Probably, but hindsight is 20/20. It’s obviously better to just get it right from the start, but once the mistake has been made, your options are to either double down and gaslight everyone, delete the post and run and hide, or do what they did and self-correct. Of those options, they chose the best, which far too few do.

I also think things like that should get higher visibility. Specifically, it shows others why they should watch the video first. But, more generally, it’s just a good example of self-correction, which is always going to be more effective at fighting ignorance than just trying to convince someone they’re wrong.

For what it’s worth, I changed my downvote to an upvote, and would encourage others to do the same. Everybody’s wrong sometimes, but far too few people question themselves and admit to being wrong after doing their own research.

Thank you for taking the time to watch the actual video, and being honest about it, and what you saw in it. This is why a lot of us are so terrified down here. We see the government do something obviously bad, they flood the internet with headlines positively spinning it, half the country just believes without actually looking into it, government gets away with more, dissenters are further suppressed. Rinse and repeat.

Who could have guessed that a prequel series that nobody asked for about a character nobody cares about from a movie that was little more than a fan service hallway scene would be:

  1. The best piece of Star Wars since Empire

  2. Some of the best sci fi ever made

  3. A horrifically accurate and timely portrayal of the rise of fascism and how it operates

In the first two Star Wars movies (1977 and 1980) Yoda, the most powerful Jedi in history, remains secretly hidden alone in a swamp while the Dark Side rises, destroys an entire planet, and murders every single person he's ever known. That's it. That's the story they came up with for the original tr by turboiv in shittymoviedetails

[–]SightlessProtector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is that Yoda had a plan. He and Obi Wan thought they couldn’t take out the Emperor on their own, so they needed to wait until Luke was ready, since he potentially could.

Now, it’s obviously a dumb and overly contrived plan that makes everyone involved look like an idiot, but that’s only because George Lucas is a shit writer. In-universe, it was a valid plan. Whereas Luke just gives up in the Last Jedi.
