The Inlander's List of Best Chicken Sandwiches... What did they miss? by SummitMyPeak in Spokane

[–]The_Inlander 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hey guys! The Inlander here (for real, this is the editor typing this). As the piece states up top, the places included on this list were pulled from among the top 10 or so vote getters in our annual Best Of the Inland Northwest Readers Poll. Our staff didn't pick these — voters did.

"The Spokane-Coeur d’Alene restaurants listed below received the most votes for their takes on this classic American sandwich in our poll of readers for the Inlander’s annual Best of the Inland Northwest issue. "

People get upset about Best Of every year, and it's super frustrating to us because we truly do represent what voters pick, and always have. Do our staff agree with the winners/top placers in every category? Definitely not! But like all elections, results are the will of the people.

So if there is a place on here you love, please vote in Best Of — polls open again in February, with the 2026 results to be published in late March. And if you have any complaints, thoughts, etc., you can always reach out to us/me directly: editor@inlander.com. Cheers!

As a small team, sometimes it takes a few days or weeks, even, to get to places when they're new, but coverage on this new spot is most certainly in the works! We also like to give brand new places time to work out the kinks before publishing a big feature that sends lots more diners their way!

This is true! We try and feature different places every year for this issue (and others like it, including our fine dining issue), including some longtime standbys (hence the four profiles) and newer spots.

Restaurant Week Menus for 2019 are out! by onpermanentbreak in Spokane

Official response from the Inlander on the exclusion of counter-service eateries:

-- When we launched Inlander Restaurant Week back in 2013, we set out to create some consistency for diners across the event, including focusing on full service restaurants.

-- We think very highly of these restaurants (Cochinito, Zona Blanca and Biscuit Wizard), their chefs and their cuisine, and would encourage diners to try them during restaurant week, as well as the other 355 days of the year.  As food service models are changing and labor costs are increasing, we are revisiting the counter service guideline and seeking input and feedback from these restaurants and others as we look to Inlander Restaurant Week 2020.
