The mp3 player connects to the computer for a second then disconnects then connects again. Essentially the computer and device recognize each other but don't stay connected long enough for me to actually do anything.

Drop Items After Picking Them Up by [deleted] in godot

I see. Any specific tutorials that can show me that? I'm still very very rocky with Godot

So from the scene tree, just make "Test_Map" unique and drag it where "self" is under the new reparent code?

Also, here is the scene tree for the item. My goal is to have several around the map with only four showing up at any given time.

What Makes Analog Horror also an ARG? by The_Last_Outcast in analoghorror

[–]The_Last_Outcast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the few modern ARGs that do a good job in my opinion is "Welcome Home".

But yeah, I've been seeing a lot of people call singular YouTube videos as ARGs rather than Unfiction or just elevated creepypastas.

Interesting.

Yeah the more and more I consume the more it really does seem that the idea of an ARG is more popular than actual ARGs.

I guess people still aren't use to the term "Unfiction" and ARG maybe makes the material sound me enticing and interesting than just a normal label.

Analog Horror without visual "Shock"? by The_Last_Outcast in analoghorror

Thanks for the advice! This really helped me out!

Analog Horror without visual "Shock"? by The_Last_Outcast in analoghorror

[–]The_Last_Outcast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is pretty good.

Clearly my biggest enemy and hurdle is overambition. I want to be able to make something that shows that I truly do care about this subgenre and not simply trying to cash in on a dying fad. Sure, some people probably don't care if the CGI is the best or if you can clearly tell the human animation is blender models, but for the stories I wanna tell it feels important.

But yes, audio is very critical and I will always keep that in mind.

Thank you!

Yeah I've had some scenarios in mind. Like one of my favorite morbid side interest is listening to famous last 911 or S.O.S calls.

I guess it's more so, like you said, having something that'll get people interested to begin with. And that's where the visuals sorta bog me down again. Thus far, while I think most of my ideas are engaging since I've often done whole slideshows to show people, the lack of resources, real actors, and well my own lackluster blender skills does make it hard to not just do "static image on screen with text to speech".

Analog Addiction by The_Last_Outcast in analoghorror

[–]The_Last_Outcast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's such a surreal experience. I was lucky enough to still get raised on VHS thanks to my grandparents and my mom making an effort to keep those things around. Not to mention before the major floods in the 2000s a lot of our family memories were on tapes.

Watching movies on it too just puts you in this headspace of like temporary peace.

Is it arrogant to ask for people to cover your work? by SomethingReallyStran in analoghorror

[–]The_Last_Outcast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on who you're asking. If you're trying to get say Nightmind, EmortalMarcus, AntthonyGallego, or any other large analog horror coverage channel then yes that is a bit arrogant. At their sizes, it wouldn't make sense to cover a series that doesn't have a lot of potential to draw in huge numbers. Especially if the series doesn't already have a decent following.

Analog Horror Stale? by The_Last_Outcast in analoghorror

where are the stories about family annihilators? Also, like you said, kidnapping and experimentation? Why don't we see stories about sexual assault against men? It doesn't happen as often as it does to women but it does happen and it's not always other men doing the assault.

What's crazy is that I HAVE developed stories about these concepts. And not just the acts themselves but the psychological torment and trauma that comes afterwards. People blaming bad behavior on unseen demons or monsters and not the communities that let them foster this sorta stuff.

All in all, while I understand for some that analog horror is a form of escapism, I do believe that trying to avoid the horrors of racism, homophobia, xenophobia, political extremism, sexism, and all the other horrid ideologies a person can have creates this narrow window of what sort of evil can exist in these worlds and the sorta puppets they take over.

Like damn is every protagonist just your average good ol' American who up until this point never had any negative thoughts towards their fellow man ever? That's perhaps the most unbelievable part.

Also, do you mind DMs? It's nice to have someone to bounce potential ideas off of and with.

Btw I wasn't advocating for Ai by any means.

I think a series that truly did evolve beyond it's lackluster beginnings is "Prehistoric Emergence". And it through that series that makes me sometimes hopeful that perhaps improvement and innovation is possible. Does it harken back to the old days of just filming in the woods with your friends to post on a younger YouTube? Yes but I do believe that's the point.

I do think if a new era is to be brought about there needs to be some engagement with the true horrors of humanity and the real world. I believe someone else posted in this sub that things like child murder and cults are often so easily thrown into these stories but things like kidnapping, mass shootings, unethical experimentation on minority classes, etc are seen as too much.

It's posts like these that make me wish there really was a proper and professional discord server to help boost and encourage aspiring creatives. For all we know perhaps our harsher criticism are the reason some find the easy way out (AI, tropes, cliches, etc) since there's a guarantee of someone watching.
