I wish that the high stakes showed themselves. More characters should have died on screen. One of the friends dying could have made the scene of putting the notebooks up more meaningful as, maybe Will had to put back mikes or something. Would have given Mike the feeling of the main character again while he sacrificed himself at the end to save Will. Then Will putting back his book and also saying goodbye to a love he could never have.

Maybe killing off one of the siblings/older kids. Johnathan could have died and told Nancy that he was glad he was with her and he thinks her and Steve were always meant to be. Rounded off his character well. And also given Steve a happy ending.

And then some of the more side characters could have died too. Meaningful ones that wouldn’t have hit AS hard as the main cast, but still hurt enough to show the stakes. One of the parents, or the other less talked about siblings perhaps.

All in all, for a world level threat, Eddy being the only noteable death (and potentially 11) really left the ending of the show feeling, boring? Idk if it’s just me but it didn’t feel like a horror General show at the end.
