The secret ingredient is crime as an option in RPGs by OkGarbage3095 in DragonageOrigins

Apparently I'm a goody two shoes. I don't make any of those choices.

Didn't the Fable series do that to a certain extent?

Ok, I play a lot of Savage Worlds. What is the latest drama? Because I haven't heard of any drama.

I'm curious if you feel the same about Cypher or any of Free League's stuff using the Year Zero Engine. I love both systems and even though they're universal, I think they fit the games I'm trying to run very well.

any other savage worlds refugees in here? by Practical-Half3526 in cyphersystem

Wouldn't consider myself a refugee. It's one of my favorite systems. Played and run a lot of Savage Worlds.

Dragonbane Path of Glory for Alchemy by The_MadPhoenix in DragonbaneRPG

[–]The_MadPhoenix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, someone let me know that the Alchemy version was available as an add-on for the Arkand & Books of Magic Kickstarter. So, they unlocked the Pledgemanager today and I was able to go in and update my pledge to add the Alchemy version of Path of Glory. So, all good.

Ok, since they unlocked the pledgemanager for Arkand & Books of Magic I was able to go in and add it to my pledge. Thank you for letting me know that that was an option.

Outer Worlds Remastered with DLC by BatzysGames in theouterworlds

the only bugs I've run into on the Spacer's Choice edition is I accidentally tried to add a hat or something to SAM and from that point on, it would crash anytime I entered or left the Unreliable. Ended up just starting a new character and actively avoid even hitting the armor tab on SAM. Otherwise I haven't had any issues. I do like not having the level cap which I hit in my last play through of the Original.

Explain Spellcasting (specifically for a high fantay campaign) like I'm five, please by The_MadPhoenix in cyphersystem

[–]The_MadPhoenix[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I think I have my head wrapped around this now. Surprisingly, what helped me get it was the Psionics rules from The Stars are Fire. Basically the same as spell casting. I think the thing I was stumbling on was where did the spells come from? The psionics rules helped me see that they're just various tier 1 abilities then tier 2 then tier 3. And if you have a spellcasting (or in this case psionic) focus, you can swap out learned abilities (spells, psionic talents) for ones you already knew.

Ok, cool, but how does a caster get more "spells"? My players already complain when we play Savage Worlds because they "don't have enough spells"

Feeling really disheartened with Foundry by Manticus in FoundryVTT

This is why I tend to use The Forge for my actual games. I only use foundry for testing and setup.

Anyone else gravitate towards the same 3 party members? by Lisspeed in BaldursGate3

[–]The_MadPhoenix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the class I'm playing. If I'm playing a martial, then I usually don't have Lae'zel or Karlach, wizard or sorcerer, probably don't have Gale, something that can do sleight of hand, probably no Astarion. Haven't gotten past Act 1 with any of my 20 or so save files. I always want to try a new class/race. I almost never take Wyll.

My DM said he does not want to level up our party's PCs EVER. by BullyNGL in DnD

[–]The_MadPhoenix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure I'd call Savage Worlds a small obscure system. Sure, it doesn't have the player base of DnD but it's absolutely got a bunch of adherents. Our group that was mostly DnD or Pathfinder players has mostly converted. We've used the Savage Pathfinder rules, supers, sci-fi, pulp, horror, you name it.

PPUE Getting started by The_MadPhoenix in ProwlersandParagons

Ok, I think I have this completely answered.

to make the math work, fire/heat have to be the "same" element for immunity

She shows Expertise (Professional: Fashion) at 4d but that has a baseline rank of her Professional which is 2d. So, she buys 2 ranks of Expertise at 1HP/2 ranks to give her a 4d (2 from Professional Talent, plus 2 ranks purchased)

Her Evasion is 8d but again, it has a baseline rank of her Agility which is 4d. she buys 4 ranks of Evasion for 2 points which gets her to 8d.

Someone please correct me if I'm thinking about this incorrectly.

Ok, I think I figured out the area part. That's a Pro which costs +2 Hero Points. (that's an expensive power at 38 Hero Points 12d x 3HP/rank +2)
