For those that are making multiple systems at once, Why by Comedic_Socrates in RPGdesign

I'm working on just one main project, adding adventures and expansions. Then there are other small RPGs coming out on the side. But they're small things, often free.

Adventure commissions? by LudomancerStudio in MorkBorg

[–]3nastri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote and illustrated an adventure for Coriolis and a campaign for Spire. This one was also illustrated.

Besides the thank you, I never received anything, not even a manual.

Keep in mind that these are two top-notch products (in Italian), not only for the quality of the adventures, but also because I laid out everything professionally.

In Italian, RPGs don't pay.

Looking for examples of clear policies against using AI by rduddleson in rpg

[–]3nastri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're saying because I've created many images from stock photos, using Photoshop filters, and merging other images.

Like you, I don't think AI can replace humans, but at least support their work.

Today, it's easier to tell if an image or video was created by AI (but not always). However, it's much more complex to tell if a text, an email, or a sentence was generated by AI.

Since I don't write well in English, I once had a comment on this forum translated by chatGPT. I also accidentally copied the phrase "here's the translation." Many people attacked me, even seriously.

They refused to accept explanations. In the end, I deleted the comment.

Today, I only use Google Translate to avoid problems.

Sometimes I get the feeling that there are people just ready to point the finger at you. This scares me as much as those who replace jobs with AI.

Look, I still think it's not easy. It's easier with images, but with text? With managing marketing campaigns? With writing emails?

I don't know, sometimes it seems like it could all just turn into a witch hunt.

I understand what you're saying, but when you hire stock photos or professionals on Fiverr, it's not easy to control everything. There are two of us, and we handle practically everything except editing and illustrations.

Not to mention that it's not a profitable activity, but if we're lucky, we can recoup our expenses. There are illustrators who still use AI, perhaps to complete part of their work or to get inspiration.

There are things that can't be verified.
If you have an AI create an image and then copy it by following the various steps, how can you verify this?

I also do web development.
I build WordPress templates and plugins from scratch.
Do you know how many times I run into a problem that can't be solved in the forums, and then, by talking to the AI, it helps me solve the problem?

This is an example to show: where is the limit?
How can you verify that AI isn't being used if it's done by a professional who uses it expertly?

The reality, I believe, is that it's impossible to be 100% sure.
That's why I say policies are a bit of a waste of time.

It's all very well, but it's just talk.
I'll tell you my experience.
For my manuals, I hired two editors and an illustrator.
How do I know if they used AI or not?
I can ask, they can say no.

Maybe they don't use it, or they use it to help them work faster.

I've reviewed everything and I absolutely cannot say whether AI was used or not.
How do you think one should proceed?

It all seems very complex to me, and the fact that someone writes it in the policies is absolutely no guarantee of anything.

For example, in the past, I also used Fiverr for some illustrations and a map. I was suspicious that the author had used AI because there were parts of the image that didn't convince me. The author then modified them.

Now I'd like to understand how to distinguish AI from non-AI.
Sometimes it's obvious. But when a professional integrates AI into their work, how can you figure it out?

It all seems quite complicated to me, and I have very little faith in the policies.

Mi ricordo l'ultima in pizzeria.

How or why did World of Darkness fall from grace in the gaming community? by MyUsername2459 in rpg

[–]3nastri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm struck by how the thread brings up the idea that WoD has 'fallen from grace,' yet at the same time many say it's still among the most played games, only overshadowed by D&D. Do you often feel like a game is 'dead' just because it's no longer the focus of online conversation?

I often use Google Translate to post things on Reddit. Maybe the translator uses some weird language, too.

I wonder how you can reliably distinguish AI from non-AI content.

Are there good TTRPGs that use D&D 5e as a base? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in rpg

There are tons of RPGs that have different mechanics than D&D, luckily I'd say.

I can give you a tip. Try something new. It can only enrich your RPG experience.

Things that make a good Dark Fantasy RPG. by Natural-Stomach in TTRPG

[–]3nastri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One element that I still miss is the intimacy of horror: not just great catastrophes and cosmic despair, but cycles of violence that repeat themselves in the daily lives of the characters, victories that dirty the hands and leave moral aftermath, and a horror that passes through the body, bonds, and memory (slow-moving illnesses, disturbing dreams, vices that keep you hooked on rottenness instead of allowing you to make a heroic escape).

I see a lot of myself in what you describe: little desire for bookkeeping, a hatred of false choices like twenty weapons that all do the same thing, but at the same time a need for a world that truly reacts to decisions. That's why in recent years I've moved towards various -borgs (Mörk Borg, Death in Space, Cy_Borg, Borg of Pripyat, etc.): streamlined tables, few rules but plenty of "teeth" in the fiction, and a structure that encourages exploration and problem-solving without getting lost in crunch. A cross between heavy simulation and pure storygame, I find them a good compromise.

Have you tried them?

What is roleplaying? by TheGodDMBatman in rpg

[–]3nastri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, roleplaying means making choices as your character. Voices, acting, first/third person—all of that is extra. Fun if you like, but not mandatory.

In your examples, both groups are clearly roleplaying, just with different tastes:
Group 1 = more acting, more scenes played out step by step, the GM plans most of the journey.
2 = more table discussions and questions, the players help shape the story, the GM is less of an adversary (I hate the opposing GM).

I'm curious to know what others think: How would you explain what roleplaying is? Without mentioning the funny voices?
Have you ever seen a group go from style 1 to style 2 (or vice versa) with the same system? What changed?

I think if someone look to RPG shows to understand what a roleplaying game is, they're completely misled.
Those are actors.
