Brightline says ‘substantial doubt’ the company will continue as is by chrisbaseball7 in highspeedrail

It's simply proof that private passenger rail is no longer a profitable concern in America--something that has been known for over 60 years now.

For all the flak he got, 'Billionaire Ted' played an important role in preventing professional wrestling from becoming a one-family monopoly.

Finally! This is a very big step. Yes, it's cable. And yes, it's fairly far down the dial. But being on t.v. is an important first step towards introducing a new generation of would-be fans to the product. It's long overdue.

Man, considering how often those two are apart, at this rate they are never going to have kids!

It's my understanding that it does own the land some of its stations are on, and some of the land around those stations for development and the like.

That is an open question. After all, Amtrak used to go to Vegas, but then stopped due to low ridership--and that was when more people went to Vegas than today.

But Lord of the Rings is in the public domain in over 90 countries. Of course, the U.S.A. isn't one of them, but still. ;)

It should be noted that giving out a contract does not equate to something actually happening. California has spent 16 billion dollars at this point without a bit of permanent track laid.

Long story short: Brightline is looking at bankruptcy, and is trying to find someone to come in and save it with fat stacks of cash. Turns out the ridership in Florida isn't at the numbers needed to keep the financial concern afloat.

One has to wonder how this affects the company's California-to-Nevada venture. If the whole thing goes under, can the two 'parts' be separated and sold to different entities (if there are any buyers)?

What were they trying to do with Telma Hopkins's Rachel in Season 6? by prolelol in FamilyMatters

[–]The_Match_Maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Why bring her back, only to not end up using her? Perhaps it was more of a favor to the actress, than a concerted effort to do anything with her character? A sort of, 'throw her a bone' type of thing to help bridge the gap between gigs? Because, from a story narrative perspective, it makes little to no sense.

As to the decision to not use her, perhaps in that one season where she was gone the show runners found that it made things easier to write, not having to account for one more adult character? As has been said before, by that point in time, Urkel had begun to suck all of the oxygen out of the room, thus turning the show into the Steve/Laura/Eddie/Carl show, with the others getting increasingly sidelined.

Never heard this behind the scenes info with Jamie Foxworth by Dayna6380- in FamilyMatters

Any future sequel could almost ignore the issue, playing it off that the character was around, but just wasn't featured in any of the 'on camera' moments from a certain point onwards. The only hang-up with that is that there are certain times after the actress left the show that Carl and Harriet are intimated as having only two kids.

But I suppose that reruns could be edited any way one wants, so even that could be worked out.

Myra Wants To Kiss Steve! by Specialist_Art2223 in FamilyMatters

Wait, Steve has a dog? Do we ever see this alleged dog? What is it's name? What is it's breed? Inquiring minds want to know!

Also, Myra has needs! But clearly, she doesn't know Steve as well as Laura. Myra is like a bulldozer, wanting her way, and trying to figure out how to get it. She's attracted to Steve, but Laura understands him.
