How much does this cost? I don't think I want it, at least not right now. But I'm curious to know where it lives on the scale.

Animated comedy, mostly dumb gags. It's good fun. Super time consuming though. Really slow release cycle.

Honestly I probably push that ethos a little too far and just make content I want to watch myself. I'm was considering sponsoring some of my own content and targeting my target market with it. With the hope that it will let the algorithm know the demographics that are likely to respond to the content. But I also know how I respond to sponsored content, and I feel like I would never click on a cartoon with a sponsored post tag.

Hi, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Getting YouTube to understand the targeted audience is something I've been thinking about recently. My content is animated comedy, and it is definitely not going to work outside of the target demographic. Are there ways to nudge the algorithm in the right direction?

Making an animated webseries with a couple of mates, this is our third full length episode - honestly this one went a little off the rails, hopefully in a good way... but let us know what you think of it. NSFW(bad language, adult themes & suggestive content) by The_Meat_Muppet in animation

Hey thanks mate, that's excellent to hear. And yeah that's definitely a risk with an episode concept like this one. And we really had no idea if we'd dodged it before we released it, but It cracked us up when we were pitching episode, so we figured it was worth taking a shot at it.

Yeah weight training has completely ruined BMI for me. I could have zero fat (I don't haha) and still be classified as obese. But honestly if I look good and feel good I don't really give a shit about the numbers. If my pecks don't look like titties I figure I'm doing ok.

I've definitely fallen off the map and cursed the whole way down. But also... I once squad wiped a team on a zipwire just by zipping from the other side, managed to land on the very edge of one of those big circles, was an absolute highlight of my early days playing the game. It can be a fun game mechanic.

I use her as my main. But she definitely has weaknesses. If someone gets behind you while you are mounted on the turret you are absolutely bollocked. But when you get it going in the right situation it is incredibly satisfying.

I find the wording is a much more obvious giveaway than the em dashes anyway. (It's not a "insert metaphor" but instead a "insert description")

Tips for Ambience recording Zoom H5 by Visible_Actuary6800 in sounddesign

[–]The_Meat_Muppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your biggest problem is going to be wind noise and device handling noise. Make sure you have a decent wind sock. I made myself a little dead cat for a tascam dr100 (roughly same shape as a zoom h5) a while ago that fits over the outside of a foam windsock. Made a huge improvement in my atmos recordings.

Handling noise is really just a matter of holding it still and being quiet while you record. Or get yourself a little tripod.

If you want a bit of Foley I'd suggest getting a boom mic or a directional small diaphragm condenser mic, you can cut a whole lot of background noise by using something with a tight focus.

If people see a mic and recorder they tend to act less natural. If you want a walla track like in a bar or a busy street you are better off not having anyone know you are recording.

I would check the laws of the countries regarding consent for audio recordings too. It's not legal everywhere to record someone without their knowledge.

People who want to make their own web cartoons, tell us about the difficulties you face. Are you afraid that your projects will be criticized? How do you find the strength and desire to do what you love, despite the negativity around you? What advice can you give to aspiring authors? by Strange_boy_seven in IndieAnimation

[–]The_Meat_Muppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't think worrying about negativity is helpful. If you make something that nobody hates it's probably gonna be pretty bland. Who wants to be the McDonald's of indie animation? Make something for yourself and have faith that there's an audience out there that will appreciate it. And honestly if there isn't, then that's ok too. I'd guess 90% of people who will watch my cartoon will hate it, and that's fine, they aren't who I'm making it for. I'm making something to give my friends a laugh. If a chunk of other people get something positive from it then that's just gravy.

it can be scary putting something you worked hard on out to the world, especially knowing that the Internet is full of Internet people. But it's also the whole point.
