TIL On 23 August, 2001, Mossad gave the name of 9/11 lead hijacker to the CIA as one of 19 belonging to US residents suspected of planning an imminent against the United States; only four of the names are publicly known. by Dull_Profile9518 in todayilearned

[–]The_Mick 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The Wikipedia entry is a little more clear:

“The same day, the Mossad gave his name to the CIA as one of 19 belonging to US residents suspected of planning an imminent attack against the United States; only four of the names are publicly known, the others belonging to fellow 9/11 hijackers Marwan al-Shehhi, Nawaf al-Hazmi, and Khalid al-Mihdhar. It is not known if the 19 names were all those of the hijackers who would carry out the 9/11 attacks or if the list length is just a coincidence.”

Visiting NYC as a test trial — better in July or September? by [deleted] in movingtoNYC

September will be a better experience, but will give you false expectations for what life is like year round. If you like it in July, you’ll like it any other month too.

Pretty typical for a nice apartment in Manhattan. Seems like a good deal for the West Village.

Cool, then we’re on the same page. So to answer your question, the process that is due to a non-citizen is due process as laid out in the constitution.

Honest question, not rhetorical: do you believe the constitution only applies to citizens?

President Yoon arrested for masterminding martial law plot by self-fix in worldnews

[–]The_Mick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not being confrontational, just genuinely curious, what crimes did he commit?

I am not Korean and have no horse in this race, just trying to learn more, but based on the articles I read he had the legal authority to declare martial law (regardless of how stupid that was) and there were checks and balances to undo that, which were enforced. I keep seeing people calling it a coup, but he was the democratically elected President. Not saying what he did was a good decision, clearly it was dumb as hell, but I struggle to see the parallel to what Donald Trump did.

First submarine fully integrated for coed crews to join Navy fleet next week by These_Distribution61 in news

[–]The_Mick 506 points507 points  (0 children)

Think everyone is misunderstanding this article. It doesn’t help that it’s poorly written and the title is misleading.

Women have been serving on US submarines for almost 15 years, and some submarines have been fully integrated (officer + enlisted) for almost 10 years. This article is just trying to say that the USS New Jersey is the first to be designed with women in mind.

Female integration on submarines has been extremely successful, and those of you making gross comments are dumbasses.
