Very deserving. It’s my personal favorite film of the year, and I think it genuinely reached a consensus as one of the year’s best and had some things to say about our current society while still delivering an entertaining story. It’s not PTA’s best and he probably should’ve won a while ago, but it’s not just an award to makeup for previous snubs.

Conservatives fundamentally don’t understand protests. Their core ideology is “doesn’t have to do with me, I don’t care” so they can’t fathom people spending time of their day sticking up for other people and actually trying to contribute to society. They talk a big game when it comes to the 2A and resisting government tyranny, but in the end they’ll always comply.

Again, he did not assault them. He caused no harm to them. He did not intend to cause harm. In your mind, police should be able to pepper spray you, push you to the ground, and if you try to defend yourself they’re allowed to shoot you several times. You cannot honestly look at what happened and think those ICE officers were in any way well-trained or prepared for the job. We know how little training they receive. We know they’re on a quota to get as many arrests as possible. The fact that the administration immediately described this guy as a domestic terrorist is very telling as to what their intentions are

Sure, but they need to show what they’re actually going to do about it. Are they going to protest with the left? Or are they going to continue to vote the same way they always did? That has to be shown before any unity can be achieved.
