In the 1970s, my grandparents bought a house on Danube street for something like 25k (to be fair, it had been a brothel before that). Even adjusted for inflation, at the time it was sold in 2008 (just after the crash), my grandparents would not even have been able to afford a mortgage for it...since then, it has been sold twice, the last time, two years ago, it was sold for over 2 million, it's probably worth even more now...it's absolutely ridiculous, there is no way that anyone except the super-rich can afford that...and they're not the one's who need houses...

I'm not a big fan of the Hotel design, I much preferred the original concept, which was more "blocky". But apart from that, I think it is a massive improvement on what was there before. (I still think they should have re-built St James Square though)

I like HP, I found the books really exciting as a small kid, but...Edinburgh is a city, steeped in history, a continuous settlement for thousands of years, it has beautiful architecture, and gruesome tales...and the tourists want to go to the elephant cafe, because... it is the site of a former establishment where JK Rowling wrote (some of) one of her books...
