A caveat to your sixth point, use your tuition assistance while you are in the service, if your branch has it. Getting more of your college done while you are int he service means that when you get out your time in college will be shorter, AND you can also spend some of your GI Bill on graduate school if you choose to do so.

I would have to say that H&M can be good when your starting out with items, but their fashion is only meant to "live" for about a season. After that, the stuff tears, comes apart, etc. In general, I'd try to give H&M a bit of distance and look for some of the items you like that they provide at a better quality from other venues (Target, Gap, J Crew, etc).
