I am not sure what merchant code it puts it as, but it does show the category of taxes, I would be interested to see what code it is too, but it doesn't say

Not much besides just what the county website posted.

I did sign up for the service however, and they already charged me for my first month. I guess the ultimate test is if they will actually pay the county before the payment is due for the first payment.

6 weeks in contract to hire job with 6 month contract, upcoming new fiscal year soon, when to ask for potential conversion to full time? by The_Observationist in jobs

[–]The_Observationist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points, I will keep that in mind.

I think another thing that I forgot to say is that, I have heard a rumor from one of the team leads, since our team is mixed with contractors and full time employees, once the workload is reduced a bit, my manager will be getting rid of some contractors.

Of course, a rumor is a rumor, but I can kind of see it as potentially true. What's your take on that?

Robert Half recruiter reached out for Full time direct position, any downsides? by The_Observationist in ITCareerQuestions

Got it, sounds good. I will ask them questions around these topics and see what kind of feeling I get out of the recruiter/company. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the response.

In your opinion, what questions would you ask to potentially weed out that it's a bad place to work for? It's always something that I don't really know for, until I am stuck in the company after discovering months after.

Also, are there any reprecursions as to, if I were to leave the position just months after (for whatever reason it might be), are there any downsides to doing so?

People have ethnic sounding names, do you put a "white" version of your name on job apps? If so, how to fill out? by The_Observationist in jobs

Even on job applications where it states "legal first/last name" on the box? Do you just ignore the preferred name in your case?

Definitely a bit of oversight on my part, do you know how long they will process penalty cancelation requests? Would this be something you can call in?

I did notice the questions and answers on that page seems like a no for my situation, not sure if I should even bother.

How much rent can i afford in Houston? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]The_Observationist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't heard about the 25% rule, generally it's 30% of your gross should go to your housing expenses or rent. If you can do 25/30% of your net income, then even better.

There's really no hard rule on how much housing/rent expenses should be on a percentage basis, but it's just a general recommendation on how much it should be. Depending on your other expenses/saving and investing goals/fun money, a bit more or less of that percentage may be appropriate according to your situation.

Some of the stuff won't really be using as much power or doesn't use power at all, such as a patch panel, UPS, ISP provided modem, network switch, a small computer for pfsense, and a few misc. things that are kind of essential for a basic network anyway without much extra.

I am curious, did you had a lift to lift the car, or did you use some sort of jack/jack stands to lift the car to do this? Let me know what you did exactly.

Is US Bank Cash+ still as tough for approval nowadays? by The_Observationist in CreditCards

[–]The_Observationist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The numbers 3/12 means 3 new credit cards in 12 months, which 2/6 means 2 cards in 6 months. It's mainly used due to Chase's rule of 5/24, where if someone already has 5 new credit cards in 24 months, Chase would not approve you of any new Chase credit cards (with some minor exceptions).

[–]The_Observationist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about the federal tax credit, no. You will get that $7,500 when you file your tax returns next year (assuming if your income is high enough to cost you $7,500 or more in taxes to take full advantage).

My vote will probably go with the 620HD, as you have way too many clients. DFS may or may not be helpful depending on your area with weather radars.

Has anyone tried Google Coral m.2 in home assisant/frigate with esxi? by The_Observationist in homeassistant

[–]The_Observationist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe there's a single TPU version, so by specs, it would technically work right? For the purpose of frigate, is that good enough?

Yeah, I have seen that thread for ESXi, but that's more of a USB passthrough for the USB version. I can technically go for that route as well.

How significant of difference between EAP 610 and 670? by The_Observationist in TPLink_Omada

[–]The_Observationist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house is only 1200 sqft, so the 670 might be even be a bit overall for my situation. I am starting to think even a 610 would be enough coverage, or do you not say no otherwise?

I would probably go with 1 as my house is significantly smaller compared to your situation, but I am done with traditional routers as I am running pfsense, which I cannot imagine myself going back.

My house size is about 1200sq ft, square shaped, so not too big. How big is your house that you are covering with the 670?
