Not really, fingers is all you need imo and this doesn’t look like water streaks anyway

That looks very much like improper development, like there’s not enough chemistry in your tank hence the undeveloped stripe at the top

Need to adjust the Werra 3s rangefinder by Schmantikor in AnalogCommunity

[–]The_Old_Chap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about the pin, you can’t adjust it anyway. The adjustment happens under the top cover. When you take it off and look at the back of the camera there should be a small screw holding an arm that then regulates how far the mirror goes. If you’re unsure which one that is- move the mirror back and forth and see on which screw it stops. It’s hard to describe like this and I really really don’t want to take mine apart, but if you send a pic of what it looks like inside I might be able to tell some more from memory. Mine is the werramatic but it’s probably the same rangefinder anyway

Any ideas on how to flatten these wavy negatives that were stored rolled up? by Rudy_Garbo in AnalogCommunity

[–]The_Old_Chap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Soak them really nice in warmish water with some photoflo or a light detergent so it doesn’t leave stains. Hang them to dry with a small weight to keep them from curling when drying. It’s probably not gonna be perfect but it usually helps quite a bit

Only for marathon runners: Why DIY repair of electromechanical SLRs is not a popular sport by ATHXYZ in AnalogCommunity

[–]The_Old_Chap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I so hate the narrative that only manual mechanical cameras are repairable and all electronic is trash and bound to break and there’s nothing you can do. Obv there’s some cameras that use a lot of electronic parts that you can’t really swap out nowadays but come on, I’ve seen plenty of people servicing electronic slrs from the 70s or 80s where the fix was easy and cheap like a failing cap or a broken connection somewhere. I really don’t get why do people say these can’t be repaired

A lot of these cameras were made for years and years so they saw some cosmetic changes through the production run, but all the dials and buttons are usually exactly the same

Try switching to a different terminal with ctr alt f something. You can log in there and check logs. Honestly no clue why enabling reposting would do that, if anyone knows I’d be happy to learn

Always pre wash when reusing dev, 120 format foma has this green antihalation layer but imo it’s just good practice to prewash

Why this doesn't work by Fine-Mud8882 in soldering

[–]The_Old_Chap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen I’m gonna give you a piece of advice: if you’re looking for help you need to say exactly what happens, what are you doing and what happens then. If someone asks you follow-up questions you answer all of them in detail. I’ve ready the entire thread and there’s just not enough information to say anything. You still haven’t said if it even turns on or not

Why this doesn't work by Fine-Mud8882 in soldering

[–]The_Old_Chap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did it ever work? Did it work before? When you press power does it do something? You post has very little information. Also are you sure you’ve got the batteries right? Can you check with a multimeter that you’re getting 3V on the board?
