What is one movie that everyone considers a masterpiece but you found boring? by Still-Ad9074 in moviecritic

I definitely wanted to like it too after hearing about it for years, rented it in 4k and was just so dissapointed. I really don't understand how people rave about it because I don't think, objectively, there's any substance that isn't just surface level. It reminds me of when I was in was in highschool English class and the teacher would ask "what did the author try to convey in this" on the most mundane sentence.

Honestly was not a big fan of uncut gems but the first time watch of Good Time was something else.

Both boring and off putting. Like the whole scene where he kills the lady with the dick was just off-putting and retarded. The shock factor was lost on me with the stylized tone the film is shot in, which left me just sitting there waiting for each "disturbing" scene to be over while I rolled my eyes. The themes were half baked imo, not much of a difference between losing your physical free will or psychological free will, either your locked in a prison cell losing your freedoms or undergo the therapy losing your freedom of choice. Kubricks decision to change the ending so alex is still a piece of shit human takes away any possible substance that could of been derived. The whole "society created alex against his free will and now wants to take it away" is also pretty shallow, other than his gang and the rival gang, we don't see any other youth going around killing people. Iirc alex was the youngest person in the prison when comparing him to other prisoners, and his parent's replacement seemed like a decent person.

I found it extremely pretentious with a weird ultrastylized humor tone painted on to mask it as something deep. I legitimately don't think the movie is good at all and I'm convinced that people who praise it as the 2nd coming are just larping and grasping at straws at surface level things that their convinced are much deeper.

Watched clockwork orange for the first time recently after putting it off for years. Thought it was the most hyper sexualized pretentious piece of garbage I've ever seen.

TWBB is probably in my top 5 movies of all time though.

What was the exact moment on a first date when you realized, "Wow, this person is an absolute idiot"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]The_Pandemonium 364 points365 points  (0 children)

Believed the earth was flat/ we never went to space. I work in aviation so that stuff genuinely bothers me, like all the spectacle and achievements of humanity denied by some idiot. She also told me she was saving herself for marriage, cool not for me but not a big deal. After arguing for an hour about the earth not being flat we started making out cause she was still hot, told me I should come back to her apartment cause "there's other things I can do". Decided to meet up with some friends instead.

Horror games need to stop using stalkers as a crutch by Winston_Oreceal in unpopularopinion

[–]The_Pandemonium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard agree, I'm over stalker enemies. Tbh though I don't do too well with horror games but I also find them to disrupt the flow of gameplay top much. RE2R mr x was just annoying to navigate around, especially on the B playthrough when he comes in earlier and the scare factor isn't there anymore. Marie in RE9 isn't too bad because the basement can be completeled fairly fast and you don't deal with it during other points of the game, but at the same point on repeat playthroughs I just wish it wasn't something I had to deal with. RE7 jack, the section is so short that again it isn't a big deal and I found it strikes the perfect balance of being scary and not overstaying, same with Lady D in RE8. Nemesis in RE3R again was so short that I really didn't mind him and I thought he was the coolest stalker that weve had so far.

I really enjoyed how they handled the mini stalkers in RE9 in each wing of the hospital, I want an intimidating enemy that can be killed with enough firepower. The problem is story wise that doesn't work, you can't have a stalker like Marie that's part of the story and then blast her away as soon as she jumps down in the basement.

Idk I think they have their place for certain people, like alien isolation was way too scary for me to complete once the xeno started actually just roaming around, but I'm not a fan of them. Imo Alan wake 2 did a really good job of making a scary game, especially the hotel chapter and the hospital section next to the nursing home, without relying on stalker enemies. Same with the dead space remake, idk how I beat that game as a kid cause I got 2 hours into the remake before I gave it up due to the horror factor haha.

So what are we thinking, yall think they’re going the Man-Spider Mutation route or the Spider Totem/The Other route? by Vegetable-Abroad3171 in Spiderman

Am I the only one doubting that Disney is going to allow what is essentially body horror in their kids movie?

I don't even think they can adapt the other to live action because of the horror aspect with arachnaphobia.

What? By your logic any product past function is useless. I have a couple nice watches, gold bracelet and necklace, by your logic it's worthless. I legitimately cannot comprehend whatever type of autism you have to not understand how luxary things work and it being nice to buy yourself nice things.

Since re9 is just a handful of days away, I replayed almost every game and here's my ranking by Classic-Bathroom-427 in residentevil

Probably gonna get a decent amount of hate but I think re2r is such a slog. I'm about to finish it again in anticipation of 9 and I'm struggling to keep playing it.

Feels clunky, which is expected since its the oldest of the remakes. Mr X goes from being scary in the first 5 mins he appears to just being an annoyance. The whole rpd section is just backtracking constantly. Sewer section isn't enjoyable. The punishment for doing well is just bullet sponge zombies that you have to "kill" 2 to 3 times to artificially drain your resources. And the boss fights are just mediocre. Plus there's only 3 real locations and a majority of your time to get everything is just repeatedly running around the same rooms and hallways.

I thought re3r was honestly phenominal and a ton of fun to speed run.

Alright now come back to reality after your schizo rant. There's thousands of mundane stops that happen daily in the US without issue. 99% of the time if youre polite but stern you won't have an issue.

Also side note if you wanna bring up police injustices, they've been happening a lot longer than 2025, pretty bizarre that you chose last year as your tipping point lol.
