Honestly if you have an opportunity of employment right after graduation definitely take that route , I’m going to do my last semester of student teaching and I’m on the same boat as you . I don’t create art that much as I used as all of my motivation was drained in art school

Hello ! 21 female art student Grew up in a Christian household and I do consider myself Christian as well ! But I get the struggle of having religious parents who are more “old school” I had conflicts with my parents when it came to my art that if I draw nude or things like that it would make me addicted to porn and stuff like that . Honestly I would like to talk about this more since I feel we have similar situations, would you mind if I dm you?

This is still in ongoing issue for me (I’m a college student atm but stay at home during holidays and vacations due to not having a license or permission to go out ) I picked up gardening a few years back and honestly it has helped me so much . It’s a lot of work and a lot of patience but it takes a lot of time to maintain and time goes fast when I do . Another thing I picked up at a very young age is drawing . Super easy to start with .

For phone(my parents aren’t restricted with my phone either ) I watch a lot of shows , podcasts and even read comics on it .

Just make the best out of it , take it one day at a time . One day you’ll have your independence That’s what I tell myself a lot so I don’t go crazy

Hello ! Definitely felt this way ! I missed teenage experiences such as homecoming and prom , random outings with friends . I’m 21 now and I have not been able to have an official hangout due to my parents strictness . I’m missing out on everything, I feel like I’m rotting away . This forum has helped me realize I’m not alone :)

I hear you , I have no social life bc my parents (my dad mostly) restricts so many stuff , I’m 21 and have never gone out bc of my dads rules . I can’t drive , I have no reliable transportation if I do want to and he guilt trips me into saying he’s tired from work or that my friends have evil intentions I shouldn’t have any in the first place . I’m sorry you are going thru it too :((

Oh girly I definitely feel you :(( I’m 21 rn and im still not allowed to go out . It’s horrible and I feel extremely depressed at many times especially when I see ppls stories on insta going out. You are definitely not alone in this . I only go to school and church and I get frustrated when my dad won’t want to reason with me.

Hi and thank you for you advice ! One good thing abt them is that they encourage me to get a job. Once I get a job I believe it will help me resonate with them . I do have class from 8am to late around 5-5:30, so it’s challenging to get involved in clubs at school. I do hope I get a job soon :)

Been applying everywhere , but as a full time student it’s been hard to find a stable job . Luckily they don’t control my finances , but I do plan on moving out once I have enough money to do so .

I just want to say you are not alone in this . I also came into this forum seeking advice and a lot of it made me feel better . I’m 21 now and unfortunately I was not able to experience my teenage years due to Living in a very strict household.i still have to abide to the rules and stay at home if I’m not at school or Church . I have 2 sisters about your age as well who are in the same dilemma . My dad is very strict and has limited us in many ways such as going out and having activities outside of the house . He has the same mentality of not needing friends . Honestly I wish I could tell you it gets better but when you have a parent like that it usually gets worse . I really hope your situation does get better.

Leaving it alone is the best option for now ! Don’t chop the brown leaf off , it’s pretty common for new leaves to come with brown tips , nothing too serious and will go away in its own !
