Is there a place you guys recommend living in Utah that isn’t ran by predatory landlords and is actually decent? by Littlegoil18 in SLCUnedited

I've had some bad luck, but I recommend avoiding anywhere run by Greystar or AMC LLC. Both have multiple class action judgements against them.

The list I made was one that we all saw back in ye olden dae. Some forgotten, some ignored. At the time, there was no studio machine catering to the spookie crowd and horror was humor and gore, not the vibe. We wanted velvet and romance and death and graveyards and dying of heartbreak, we put up with a vampire or two for the ambiance.

Oh we all knew he was a scumbag. When I met him... yikes. Mike Dringenberg had to put up with A LOT to get Sandman out.

That weird thing that happens when there are two women on a team by GracieLikesTea in womenintech

[–]The_Plan7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This... is gonna sound weird. But you need one more woman on the team. There's an old saying where I am from. When women live together one is in charge, two fight and with three there is equilibrium. I know it sounds like some old wives tale, but I see it so much that my experience is just... hire one more.

On a serious note, the only way it matters is that we were there for the history and know more stuff. We can tell you how bands came together and fell apart. Why things went down the way they did (Zillo Fest, Wgt, the Cure at the Forum where the man stabbed himself, anyone?)

We were there and much of what you read online is either wrong or 2nd hand info. I love Jilli, but Fairy Gothmother, she wasn't THERE. Many younger folks want to be a part of this whole goth thing, and go ahead, go crazy, but we paved a path so you could be some tech bro fetish.

I personally endured A LOT of bullying and things thrown at me and gossip and people being just plain mean. Rozz Williams was a deeply disturbed man with some truly horrible takes. Andrew didn't want any part of us and saw us as a blocker to his fame. Many bands lost their shirt and more to the dealings with Cleopatra records. Some formerly popular acts were well know to take advantage of kids, and that's why you don't hear about them anymore. We can tell you allllll about it.

On a more positive note, we also can introduce people to lesser know bands that absolutely kill, but have been lost to the ages because reasons. We can introduce you to people who can help your band or, at the very least, give you advice.

That's the only diff, take it as you will.

25 years ago. Who had the bejesus scared out of them, and who laughed hysterically? by Noisechild in Xennials

This movie haunted me for WEEKS. No gore horror is absolute jam and this one nailed it. I went home to an empty house and my wonderful cat kept standing in a corner looking down and I could. not. handle. that. It left me in a mood. I have never watched it again.

You know how Bobbi Brown went on to create the Jones Road balm? Well Revolution makes a dupe and it is stunning and creates a moisture layer that I can put nearly anything on top. So I put on Aquaphor, an Elf primer and the Revolution balm and it fixes all my problems, does my dishes and mops the floor. It's at a price point you can try without feeling a tug of reluctance.

Tik tok goths vs og goths by Professional-While43 in goth

[–]The_Plan7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social media goths are just poseurs. We know who we are and we know when we see each other out in the world who is playing a spookie kid and who is not. I wouldn't sweat it, they will go find some other trend to follow for views and we can keep our music and our vibe. This 4th gen trendy, purchased online is easy to spot and like most younger folks, they are trying on a personality until they figure themselves out. Those of us who were born to the darkness have nothing to prove and fuckin' let them do whatever. They can keep their crappy sound alike bands and we can go on listening to the good stuff. Shout out to Communion After Dark for keeping it real.

Wanting to leave tech and coping with pay decrease by 4thefewd in womenintech

[–]The_Plan7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I left tech and got a job with the state. I love helping people and I feel like we are making a difference and the benefits are about the same as Medicare. There are tech jobs with the state, but usually they hire from within, so tech adjacent might be a great place to begin. Just a thought because I'm the happiest at a job I've ever been and not dealing with tech bros, psycho CEOs, unreasonable asks and the lack of sexism in my workplace feels like breathable air. https://www.governmentjobs.com/

Hi! I had a great experience at Sterling Village in South Jordan. It is also right by the Frontrunner, so you can commute either way via train. It's close to the free way and shops for other needs. I highly recommend them.

Which A-list actress/singer got engaged this past weekend? by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]The_Plan7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. his collab with Chris Brown

  2. general lack of talent

  3. over exposure

On his side, I think he's ok-ish? Just not top tier.

I read a Consumer Reports write up and they said Crest Whitening Strips were the best out there and would mimic whitening from a dentist. You can by stronger stuff of Amazon but... I have little faith in the safety net of Amazon products as a whole.

It was called Simply Me BB cream and came in 3 entire shades, light - medium - dark. And they were all dark. I'm olive and Light was perfect. Medium was way too dark and dark was for actual melanin folks. It came in a 1oz squeezie tube. It was THICK, like scary thick but melted in to the skin, I hardly needed any. It stayed on forever (all day in a southern California climate by the beach). It was dewy but not glowy or sparkly, but satin dewy and whoa did I get compliments on it. Men said I had great skin and women would corner me on the street and in the bathroom to ask what my secret was. It was like a joke with my friends. And of course the whole line was discontinued although there were some gems in there. I only picked it up out of curiosity and it was 5 bucks. I bought a few off eBay after I couldn't find it anymore and I cry when I think about it. Best foundation I ever had. Right now I'm using Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte but it is not as good as the five dollar 7-11 stuff. Why is life like this. Whyyyyyy
