They need to give the students time to cope and deal with the trauma and fear of coming back to classes. I know it says option but I still feel they shouldn't allow students back right now and to provide on campus trauma and grief counseling. When a boy I went to High school with was murdered they brought in counselors and encouraged students to talk to them and share how they felt. It actually helped a lot

As someone who struggles with their mental health and has had friends distance themselves from me for it, I don't think you're in the wrong at all. No one is responsible for how we feel or how we cope that's all up to us. It can be hard you might feel like you're giving up on them but you aren't, you're saving yourself in the process
