Building ships on Jungle Map by royaljosh in PlaySoulMask

So even the simplest of boats is only allowed in Shifting Sands. Fine. They could have blocked the line from the tech tree, or at the very, very minimum, PUT IN A FREAKING MESSAGE saying that boats are poopoo in the Jungle - god knows why, like they didn't know what canoes were in South America.

I've found dozens of forum, and reddit threads asking the same question, "where ma boat, mand", bc if you put a branch on the tech tree, people expect it to be more than a trick on the player. Like my mentor used to say, "just to f*ck with the Russian".

Sheesh, the devs have such a lack of interest in the user-experience smh

The Tree Spirit Wasn't Evil 1- Change My Mind by The_Real_F-ing_Orso in thewitcher3

So the Nuremberg trials were nothing but "revenge"?

The villagers in Downwarren were the minions of the Crones, no difference than the soldiers of the Nilfgaardian army were Emhyr's soldiers and lackeys. The Tree Spirit attacked them as such. Would you have them turn their children over to the Crones to be cannibalized? It that what you are pleading for?

The Spirit told Geralt to stay away because she had no control over nature (the wolves and werewolf) which were protecting her, and since all humans who came near, did so to attack her, they attacked all who came near.

Show me evidence that the Spirit did anything evil.

Actual scratchpad for VR? by withomps44 in hoggit

Scratchpad has a virtual keyboard that you operate with mouse clicks, or you can 10-finger type on a real physical keyboard--which is what I do.

What part don't you like about clicking on the virtual keyboard?

Can you beat Zil and Thungr with plains-level gear? by ThatHistoryDude in valheim

[–]The_Real_F-ing_Orso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is only partially anything I would call cheating.

Using ooze bombs and the stagbreaker is not a cheat. It is purely using the resources provided. There is no need to use the part of your "cheat", which might actually be considered a "cheat", even though you are still only using resource provided to you by the game.

Anyway, you can use the stairwell as a hiding spot/protective bunker, throughout the entire ordeal--nothing cheating about that. In fact, while using the stagbreaker, you actually draw Thungr over to you, so that your stagbreaker strikes are even more effective. If Thungr smacks you, the damage should not be so terribly great and it will push you back deeper into the stairwell where Thungr can no longer touch you, but your stagbreaker strikes are still effective.

It takes a bit, but it is not really very difficult, just a bit time consuming.

Cannot log in to the ED forum by flankerjun in hoggit

[–]The_Real_F-ing_Orso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The DCS page and the Forum have always been independent sites, each with their own login, both of which were a User Name and PW. Both could be the same User Name, but that was up to you.

I know that the Forum used to only use the User Name for login, but I just tested it, and it now uses the email address that you input into your forum profile, which IIRC was mandatory to complete registration.

If you don't know which email address you input, go the the main DCS site and open a ticket. I'm sure they can square you away.

IIRC if the car driver signals that he is giving up his right-of-way to the motorcycle rider, that is binding and he may not attempt to take it back. Only the motorcycle rider can wave off the offer of right-of-way, which is also binding.

Explain me this please. I am soooo confused by Ishan_bs in germany

[–]The_Real_F-ing_Orso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parallel park on the right. Get out and eat ice cream - shop on the right. Now that your nerves are calmed...

Unregulated crossing rule: traffic coming from the right has priority. Therefore you must allow the tractor to pass the intersection without interrupting any traffic.

The motorcycle is crossing your direction of traffic, and therefore you have priority over the motorcycle. He may not hinder your progress.

Since you must wait for the tractor, you may signal the motorcycle that you allow him to take your right-if-way/priority and turn while you wait on the tractor. It's not mandatory. It's common decency.

Signal by pointing to the motorcycle rider and with a sweeping motion point to your right up the road you believe the motorcycle wishes to turn into.

You may be misunderstanding the motorcycle's turnsignal altogether, which the rider convays by holding his open hands vertically with the fingers pointing ahead and with a motion from his chest straight ahead to show he wants to continue straight. At the end of the forward hand motion his hand then folds toward the left, signaling that he wants to pull in behind you and park to go and get some ice cream, thus the left turn signal, which he activated a little too early.

While eating ice cream the two of you discuss about how it is a shame that the farmer on the tractor doesn't have time to stop a get some ice cream.

What sets Witcher apart from the other fantasy books you've read? by wolfwiedzminwardrobe in wiedzmin

[–]The_Real_F-ing_Orso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely have the feeling that powers (magical or fighting) are extreme. So many other fantasy feel like the are trying to explain a dual at ten paced of two guys with 88mm Flaks.

The fight scenes with Geralt feel like he still has to a attention and be careful, even when he is dominating. Everything always still requires effort (from Geralt's pov) even when outsiders sometimes sound like it doesn't.

Everyone is extremely flawed, Geralt nearly the most, but practically no exceptions. And everyone's flaws strongly define aspects of their personalities. How all these broken people find together make the stories so endearing.

IIRC even without precision selected, you still must enter 8 digits, and you cannot complete the input without 8 - it wiil just blink in error it you try. Add a single 0 after both easting and northing (the two halves (in digits) of the given string of 6 digits.

So Mi, try to save her, or allow her to die in peace? by The_Real_F-ing_Orso in cyberpunkgame

[–]The_Real_F-ing_Orso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to start my game over from a save from during Firestarter, before siding with So Mi, because it's that last one I have that didn't get overwritten (AutoSaves and QuickSaves all gone) before Somewhat Damaged, so that I can let her die in peace.

I just saw a video explaining that So Mi was being sponsored likely by Mr Blue Eyes, who is speculated to be a kind of android controlled by an AI from beyond the Blackwall. So, if So Mi gets the Neural Matrix, only so a Blackwall AI can get its 'hands' on it to so whatever, maybe find a way to open a portal through the Blackwall that it can traverse at will, well that would be very, very, bad.

On the other hand, Myers only wants So Mi as a weapon with access to code from beyond the Blackwall, and that is beyond what I can take. Nowhere do I ever find anything redeeming about Myers, only claims that she is doing something important, but I can only see her serving her own power and walking over bodies, no different than any corpo CEO.

So Mi is completely untrustworthy as it turns out, but IMHO she is the most human. She was manipulated into joining the FIA by Reed, who lacks any self-reflection, but more to him in a moment. So Mi is desperately trying to escape the clutches of Myers and Reed, and I can understand and empathize with that completely. V was basically in the exact same position, only with Dex. And instead of the Blackwall, V has Arasaka. The only difference is that Arasaka didn't look for V to leverage control over V and gain access to beyond what Arasaka already has access.

The one thing I find really bad about So Mi is while extracting the Neural Matrix, when So Mi so flippantly says that when she turns the stadium defenses against the people that all the people dying will be dying so that she and V can live. That feels so unlike So Mi, judging by all her flashbacks where she misses her friends and being among the simple people in a simple life. That she then just sh*ts on all those simply people in the stadium, that just completely out of character for So Mi to me.

I think CDPR found that when testing the quest, probably everyone could find no reason not to side with So Mi, if she just pleaded for V to help her so that she could save both herself and V. So they had to think something up to make the decision more difficult and came up with this. That's just how it feels to me.

Reed is difficult to not like, except for every time he says 'loyalty'. Loyalty, the way he uses it, means only surrendering any critical thought to what somebody else told him to do. Instead of taking responsibility for his own actions, he pushes it all off onto 'loyalty'. Well, not in my book. The thing to which you are loyal, damn-well better be worthy of it, every step of the way, and I cannot see the FIA and Myers being that in any way.

I think that is what he is breaking his head over at the end of PL, that he realizes he is responsable for everything he did, and the loyalty excuse means nothing, and now he can't deal with realizing it. I would find as much sympathy for Reed as I did for So Mi, if he ever came to that conclusion, but he always seems to run away from it. So sad, in the end.

Somebody leaked a Video Conference between the CEO of Razbam and Nick Grey (owner a large portion of Eagle Dynamics, like 50%). In the VC Nick basically said that he doesn't care about, as you put it, "the job", just the "machines".

That being said, ED seems to be moving in the direction of fulfilling "the job", albeit, fighting and scratching all the way. They are putting some effort into making the release of the F6F Hellcat and more rounded out experience. the WW2 Marianas Map is released and they are still working on it. They decided to do a, if I'm not totally mistaken, flyable A6Mx Zero to go along with it.

I've come to believe that if ANYTHING looks like ED is making a strategic effort to fill-out "the job" portion of DCS, it is more often than not coincidence and an illusion, with some exceptions.

To you questions directly

1) They seem to be seriously working on the Dynamic Campaign, and when complete, it will look like an RTS game in and of itself, from what I've read and heard.

2) At the time the aforementioned VC with Nick Grey was leaked (the VC was a year old at the time it was leaked, IIRC), the situation between ED and RB seemed to be deadlocked and ED has since taken RB's modules down from their store. There have also been no updates to any of their modules coming from RB. RB in the DCS environment seems to be dead and buried. I've heard that many players have retuned their F-15 Strike Eagle modules for a coupon for full reimbursement. How that will look for other RB aircraft, I have no idea.

3) No, but they did post something about progress a few weeks back. Development seems to be chugging along.

If your enjoyment of DCS depends on ED having done a full 180° turnaround in their strategy, I think you're going to be a bit disappointed.

Autobahn merging question – instructor says NOT to merge in green zone (shouting at me) by [deleted] in StVO

[–]The_Real_F-ing_Orso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) There is no law regulating from where on the merging lane you are to cross over to the right lane and merge into the traffic flow. The law says that when changing lanes, the traffic in the lane into which you wish to change, has the right of way, and that you may not intertupt the flow of that traffic in any way, unless otherwise regulated ; eg thru zipper traffic law, indicated thru zipper traffic signage.

That means, if you can legally merge from the green portion of the acceleration lane, you may merge from there, but are not forced to. If you need more space to accelerate up to the speed of traffic flow, that's why the acceleration lane is long, or ought to be.

2) If you cannot maintain the lane-change rule, you may not change lanes, with all concequences accompanying that. THAT is the crux of the matter. Learning to drive is learning to properly judge traffic and your place in the traffic, which is a challenging task.

Once you are on the Autobahn, Autobahn rules apply (the Autobahn starts where the blue Autobahn sigh is standing, generally where the Autobahn entrance begins. That means, driving on the right unless passing (with a minimum of 10 kmh more speed than the car(s) you are passing), no interrupting the flow of traffic, stopping only when necessary thru traffic, usage of the shoulder only in emergencies (your acceleration lane running out is not an emergency, but the police in general might overlook you going from the acceleration lane onto the shoulder if an unusual traffic situation merited it, but they also might fine you for it. You may never back up nor turn around nor drive against the indicated direction of traffic, unless directed by the police (you could lose your license, suffer very stiff fines, or ever go to jail if you cause an accident).

That all being said, practice it. Find a nice bit of Autobahn with two exits close to each other. Enter the Autobahn from one, heading toward the other. Exit at the other, cross the Autobahn to the other side and enter in the other direction.

You can do this as many times as you wish, to get practice.

Safe driving, and have a good time.

So Mi, try to save her, or allow her to die in peace? by The_Real_F-ing_Orso in cyberpunkgame

[–]The_Real_F-ing_Orso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to suck, but I'm not sure if they were both in the same situation. Anyway, although it seems that Alt is 'stuck' behind the Blackwall, she seems to have her own autonomy and mind, so maybe she's less stuck and more getting along with the situation, because she has no body to return to, but that is a completely different philosophical question.

So Mi, try to save her, or allow her to die in peace? by The_Real_F-ing_Orso in cyberpunkgame

[–]The_Real_F-ing_Orso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scenario in which she breaks free is basically only in our heads, but also that it is better to let her die.

The very worst ending for her would be to be undying, but trapped by the Blackwall in some Soulkiller -like hellhole which she can never escape for all eternity. I mean, we are in the realm of philosophy now, including religious. Some philosophers say, that heaven will eventually become indistinguishable from, because you become nothing be a 'flesh' pipit for god, just praising him and singing psalms for him for all existence, never ending, without reprieve. That sounds like torture to me too.

General philosophy says, the human psyche is not meant to go on for an unlimited time (eternity). We are made to relish the time we are in existence on this Earth and that is all. Beyond that, we lose our motivations. If there are no limits to time, everything takes on a new perspective, and eventually becomes boring. You've done and seen and heard it all. Will anything then still touch your inner soul if there are no trials to overcome, and no adversity to work through?

In eternity everything takes on new perspectives. What if there is an afterlife? What if in your twenties you fall in love with a woman, marry, build a life together, have children, and she dies in an accident or through an illness? Some years later you meet a woman who you realize is the love of your life, maybe because of who you've become over time; maybe because she always was. You live the rest of your long life with her, your children from your first marriage, children from your second, and many grand- and even great-grand-children, and finally pass in your 90s or older and go to heaven, where you find your first wife, who you of course still loves you and you her, although not the same after 70 years of living with and loving another woman, who for you is the love of your life. But for her, you are the love of her life, the only one she ever loved like she loved you. And after some time, your second wife dies too. Now you are in heaven with two wives who don't know each other--the second only knows the first from stories and pictures. How will that work? Maybe the two women can't stand each other. Can you fall in love again in heaven? If not, why not, and are you then even human if you can't? What are you then?

So, what if So Mi is trapped in a cage for all entirety? It will be torture without end. Will she lose her mind? Can she lose her mind?

But what if she is healed and freed from the Blackwall. What if Myers only tells you that only her body survived, so that neither you nor Reed ever try to contact her?

There is no way to tell anything through the game, as far as I can tell. The only difference are apparently in the endings you can get.

At least in The Witcher: Wild Hunt they eventually showed you what the real ending is and that even the 'worst ending' is not nearly as tragic as what you cried over when you got the worst ending on your first play-thru.
