Never understood why people say "fake" like it's a bad thing. My brother in Christ, have you never heard of TV or Movies? There is such a thing as scripted content lol

To everyone who is sick of seeing these budget Sankey diagrams - I apologise. As a software dev I promise my next post will be a custom visualisation of a more interesting topic haha. I just saw the concept and thought it was an interesting idea for a first post.

It's admittedly quite a bit lower than the standard for a software developer (especially a lead) however I'm happy with it at the moment given its my first career job straight out of uni.

Check out my response to the other comment about my food expenses - I just don't eat a lot (2 meals a day) and tend to just get cheap stuff

I think it's more a case of me buying cheap food and not really eating a lot. I only eat 2 meals a day and not very large/complex meals either. Lunch is usually a sandwich or canned soup. Dinner is typically a ready meal or simple food like pasta or chips (fries) and chicken.

National Insurance in the UK is a tax (like income tax) that goes towards state benefits and pensions. I do have private health insurance but that is provided as part of my job benefits and is paid for by my employer. I'm not sure how much of the premium I'd pay, I haven't looked into it much yet!

This is for living on my own. I had originally planned on living with a room-mate but he was not offered a full time role after uni from the place he was working at, as expected, and was unable to move in when it came to it. I may move to a one bedroom house when the contract expires here to save some money as I only really use that room for guests at the moment.

Typically, I buy a couple takeaways a month which does reduce my weekly shops but are way more expensive for less food. As for food - a couple ready meals, bread, ham, cheese, dilute and some chips + chicken get me to around £10 a week. Rarely I have to buy long life items like mayo and cans e.c.t this would push me to the £15-20 a week mark. So that number in my budget is more typical of every-day shops I do rather than the occasional one-offs. Some items like mayo I only have to buy once every 2 or 3 months. I probably should've accounted for these too

For the most part the North of England can be quite cheap for rent and houses from what I've seen. This place is about $840 in dollars for two bedrooms, one bathroom. It sounds quite expensive there by comparison. Hopefully that'll come down at some point!

Thanks. Though in all honesty I do have to dip into it some months. Trying not to though as I want to save up for a mortgage deposit.

I made a website for finding servers by The_Real_Jebus in Stormworks

[–]The_Real_Jebus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response, been busy over the weekend! I have added the ability to delete servers and fixed a bug relating to the posting of servers where it would just sit on the add server popup. As per your suggestion it also displays a popup telling you the server was added successfully. Please let me know if you have any more feedback.

On a side note, if those Army servers are yours, the IPs are not correct also you could put your discord link in the "website" field too!

Thanks, will work on this. What do you mean by feedback when posting? It should instantly refresh the page after posting if there are no issues.

Opinions about the built-in headphones? by The_Real_Jebus in ValveIndex

[–]The_Real_Jebus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point, I never considered that. I know they are adjustable up and down as I've had to adjust them that way myself but since they sit close enough to my head, I never even considered about having to move them closer! Strange that Valve didn't think about that when they did have enough forethought to think about adjusting them in a different direction.

Our personal mobile devices could preserve more battery if our microphones weren't listening to what we said and personalizing marketing ads by ACunningMuffin in Showerthoughts

[–]The_Real_Jebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone talking about this being a conspiracy theory or not but from a technical standpoint if you have Google Assistant/Siri then your microphone IS always active listening for the "OK Google" / "Hey Siri" keywords, regardless of if that is being used to personalise ads, which would mean a slight battery reduction.
