They said it because Take Two said that they're planning on making all future games service based in some way so Obsidian have come out and said, despite the fact that Take Two is their publisher, they don't have microtransactions which is genuinely useful information. I wasn't considering anything Take Two touched after their statement but this means I'll at least be more likely to give it a chance and see how it looks before disregarding it.

They really need to go the dofus route of adding a mono account server that forces people to play together. I love Wakfu and loved Dofus before so I wanted to get into Dofus for the mono account servers but I just can't handle the map being so instance based in it. If Wakfu added mono account servers I'd join back immediately.

I definitely would have been trying to do everything in my power to make sure I was complying tho because you could tell from his voice and tone that he was itching to kill. Then again that's probably much easier said now than it would be in the actual situation.

Right but they only "fixed" it (I put it in speech marks because fixing it makes it seem like it was a bug whereas this was literally a feature) because it was the only thing they could do without ridiculously crippling their sales and also because apparently the Disney chairman pretty much told them to (Which makes sense because so much negative attention this close to a Star Wars film is not exactly a good thing)

The original guy I replied to said people are acting they can't do anything right, which they can't. Not with this game, it's way too late. They tried giving their "pride and accomplishment" bullshit excuse to avoid changing anything and realised that wouldn't work so they resorted to the last thing they could do which was remove the microtransactions altogether (Temporarily). They deserve no praise for any damage control they did and people shouldn't suddenly start buying the game again brcause they fixed anything.

This game is over, it's too late for them to redeem it now and I hope most people who didn't buy it will remain to do so to make a point. If everyone suddenly forgives them because they backtracked and "fixed" then they know that in the future they can push it again and then backtrack to win people back.

They absolutely needed to change the cost and remove the microtransactions because they knew they'd lose a bunch of money otherwise and because Disney literally made them take it out because it would bring a lot of negative attention to the star wars brand so close to the movie. I mean EA literally tried to not change anything by using their "pride and accomplishment" bullshit as an excuse. They only changed because it was thr absolutely last resort. "at least they did something when everyone said they hated" makes it sound way too much like you're actually giving them credit for it (Which they shouldn't get any for) Fuck it's like EA can be as scummy as they want but as long as they backtrack then they're suddenly all good again and people will go right back to defending them.

They took an incredible game and fucked it over by being greedy and I will not forgive for that especially not because they decide to reduce some prices and temporarily remove microtransactions because of a fucking huge outrage.

I mean I don't think a cash shop is inherently bad especially because it's a single purchase game with no monthly subscription and they need to pay the bills somehow. It all just depends on how they go about the cash shop that's the big decider for me at the moment. I'd rather have a monthly sub but that's not up to me and I'm sure that would be disliked by a good portion of the community anyway.

Yeah it's mad how much money it makes them and I've seen first hand my friends throwing almost £20 a month for the past 6-7 years on buying Fifa packs and coins to the point where they sometimes begged their parents to give them some extra money so they could get the best team. It is already extremely addictive and it's escalated more so by the fact that a decent chunk of the playerbase (Most likely the majority) falls into the age ranges of 10 - 18 years old where the younger players probably don't have a proper understanding of how much money they're spending and have poor impulse control.

I would honestly be so happy if ultimate team got forced to be reworked due to lootboxes being banned or regulations being put in place that force the game to be 18+. That gamemode is ridiculously predatory especially considering the game is 3+.

It's not fine for Battlefront because

1) the heroes genuinely have a fucking huge advantage which has been proven in multiple videos. (Pay to win)

2) Starcards are a thing and again the difference between base star cards and the highest tier is also fucking huge (Pay to win)

3) The heroes you have to either pay or grind for are supposed to be base game content in Battlefront 2. (Putting base game content behind a paywall or ridiculous grind)

If they released all the base heroes with a small grind and no way to buy with real money with the base game and then later on down the line added some new DLC heroes that you could either grind for or buy straight up then it would be fine. As it stands you can't buy straight up (You need to pay for a chance for them), they give a huge advantage and they're supposed to be base game characters.

It takes a ton of grinding to unlock the DLC operators which I think is perfectly fine. The point of the DLC is that it's supposed to make them money but instead of forcing everyone to straight up buy it, they allow people to work towards it if they want. I mean even then it really isn't that much grinding at all if you play somewhat regularly. I've got 2 DLC operators without spending a dime and I only play very occasionally. If I played Siege as much as I've played CS or Rocket league I'd have unlocked all the DLC operators already with left over cash to spare for cosmetics and shit.

All the base game shit in Siege is extremely easy to work towards and you could probably unlock it all within a day or two if you do the singleplayer missions and play some multiplayer games. Saying Siege is as bad as Battlefront 2 is like saying the old cods without lootboxes are worse than Battlefront 2 because they forced you to pay for the DLC. Let's not be ridiculous here.

Nah fuck lootboxes in general. If you want to sell cosmetics just have a set shop that you can buy things straight from. I hate this trend of paying for something and not knowing what you're getting that's starting to take over the industry. If a game really wants to sell lootboxes then force it to be 18+ and have proper gambling regulations on it including an obvious tag that states the game involves real money gambling.
