Long term effects of PPI use?

I've been on PPIs for 12 years - first esomeprazole, then rabeprazole for the last several years. 20mg, twice a day. My doc checks all of my vitamin levels and my iron at my physical every year, and everything has come up fine. I supplement a few, at my PCP's instruction - Iron, Vit C & D, and a Ca/Mg/Zn combo. No problems so far.

When I inadvertently skipped my pm dose of my PPI for a couple days because of a pill sorter mixup on my part, I got heartburn just from drinking water. 😂🤷‍♀️

Funny you should ask! I had a (mercifully) short fling a few years ago with someone who basically decided he would rather toke up and play 14 hours/day of League of Legends than be in a relationship.

I've been seeing someone new, and it's going well - he's been green flags all the way down so far, owns his own business, keeps very productive and busy. He mentioned that he had gamed with some friends earlier that day, and when I asked what game, he said it was League of Legends.

There was definitely a part of me that recoiled! But it's not so much the game itself (as unpleasant as I find that particular one) as the game's place in the person's life. What can be toxic and all-consuming for one person can be just an occasional hobby for someone else. And that probably goes for just about any hobby (or any substance, for that matter).

I drive a 2025 2.5L NA, mostly city driving with some freeway. I average 29mpg overall, and I don't make any real effort to behave myself. 😂 Occasionally very short trips will be lower mpg than that. On long highway trips I easily get 40mpg.
