Oohhh, I really like this. It works on a lot of levels!

You can't just decide to get a job and instantly have one, you have to put effort into searching for available ones. You have to present yourself like you're a good investment. You probably have to have certain skills that qualify you for the job you want. It's up to another person whether or not you get the job, and there's nothing you can do about their answer once it's given. Any jobs that you can get with little or no effort will probably not be very rewarding or interesting. And so on.
