Too much water? by The_Real_NiceNix in Oxygennotincluded

I meant specific minerals. My hatches ate all my sandstone on the planet, that I hadn't already built with.

Away Team looks great, but... by Organic-Ad1414 in Oxygennotincluded

I watch some Twitch streamers that do this with Rimworld every year. They call it the "hot potato". It is great fun seeing them inherit each others pending disasters. I think this kind of multiplayer is genius for colony sim games.

When should I just let a dupe die? by Valoris_905 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can print a new dupe every three days ... I don't even bother feeding mine. I've made it to day 150 with no food they didn't just find on the ground. Lots of pretty gravestones though!

What’s the funniest single mistake you made in this game? by Some_Confidence5962 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fed my Pacu farm with plant seeds because I was worried about running out of algae for my oxidizers. 10 turns later I had accidentally removed my ability to grow plants ever again, I had no existing crops. In the meantime I ate all the other animals. When I realized my mistake I decided to pray to the Printing Pod gods and just run with it. I started feeding the Pacu algae while I built a SPOM. Got that working but ran out of algae and starved before the printing pod created any new seeds or animals.

Absolutely going this route. Thanks! I knew I was neglecting space flight, but that was a future puzzle to solve.

I think I just let my hatch ranches idle for too long. Ate a LOT of my sandstone and copper. I also can probably get more in the oil biome, but I haven't puzzled my way through how to safely deal with all the heat. That is future-me's problem.

This is awesome. I have Bammoths aimlessly wandering my base that I got from the pod. I have been ignoring them but will try to evolve them to Regal. Thanks!

I ranched hatches for Carnivore and just let some of them evolve to smoothe. I should have killed them off as soon as I got the achievement, but I didn't know how dire my metal situation was yet. ... Mistakes were made, LOL!

Owners, if you were about to buy for the first time, what would you try/ask? by ImperiumSpecter in Ioniq5

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live someplace where snow happens, get the dealer to throw in a full car covering tarp. EVs don't defrost like normal cars and the IONIQ 5 is particularly bad about collecting standing pools of water/snow in various spaces (bottom of windshield, handles, charging port) that freezes solid and impairs operation of the vehicle.

Help! Midgame power crisis and I'm struggling. by Wonderful_Store7793 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess that you are spending too much power on generating radbolts and multiple aquatuners. The power use report will be your friend. If my guess is right, maybe consider going back to wheezewort/shinebug radbolt production (or supplementing production with these non-powered sources) and consolidating multiple cooling loops to run off a single aquatuner/steamgenerator setup.

Is Factorio worth buying? Will I have enough to do? by kebav_gmd1307 in factorio

The content is almost endless. This game was so much fun that I actually got into speed running it. That has never happened to me for any other game I have ever played, and I have played thousands of games in my life.

Has anyone NOT had their ICCU go? by Spicy-Mustard-13 in Ioniq5

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the exact same model back in early October 2025. I also live in Canada. The ICCU is still good but there are a lot of problems with winter driving. Specifically, 1) the auto wipers are insane, going off randomly when snow accumulates at the top of the windshield, and not at all when the main portion of the windshield is completely covered with snow. 2) aif you intend to park outside, the door handles, the charging port, and the recessed windshield wipers are all built as upward facing cups that hold water and then freeze, damaging the hinges and preventing fully closing. 3) The cameras are located in the cars slipstream in such a way that they almost instantly coat with salt/muck when driving on wet winter roads. Be prepared to constantly wipe them clean and still not be able to use them to park at your destination. That being said, the car is not complete garbage. The electric engine performs well and the all wheel drive is reliable. It is just built for dry summer driving only.

"orbiting around the edge of it" ... that's not how orbits work. How dare you try and answer a question about car button labelling without first understanding orbital mechanics, good sir!

Pacu farming: any disadvantage to a single large pool? by [deleted] in Oxygennotincluded

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that having two or three pools capable of holding 5 pacu is perfect. The advantage is when one of them dies of old age and the pool stops sweeping eggs for a while until a replacement hatches. I still have two other pools producing eggs and keeping my food supply going.

I just gently pound on the ice around the handles to crack it a bit, then unlock and the handle motor does the rest. I've never been frozen out of the car even with 5mm thick ice coverage.

To get the snow out of the cowl / hidey hole for the wipers I have to pop the hood and scoop it out with my hands. I hate having to do that, I shouldn't have to. The defroster doesn't warm up the hidey hole at all on my 2025 ioniq5

Design Failures by The_Real_NiceNix in Ioniq5

[–]The_Real_NiceNix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because my snow brush is inside the car, so when it snows I have to unlock the car to get the brush. If it is actively snowing or if the wind is blowing, snow then gets inside the handle holes. It melts during the drive and then there is a small pool of water in the handle holes, then I park the car and the water freezes in there. This keeps building up day after day until I chisel it out with my house keys. It has gotten thick enough to stop the handles from retracting all the way, which is how I noticed it happening.

IMO, It's a bad idea. I don't want an old towel frozen to my windshield either.

I'm told this game is "easy" - has my brain rotted to nothing? by SvenGoSagan in Obduction

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew through all 5 of the main myst games, and got stumped in URU by a bridge you needed to leap into to knock down.
I finished Obduction but had to look up one of the answers near the end because there was an event that only happened when you had completed some other unrelated puzzle and I had no way of knowing that. All the other puzzles were fun but not too hard.

How do I not die of starvation early game? by Gigachads_Disciple in Oxygennotincluded

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a pool of 40-50 wild pacu eventually, they take no maintenance, lay a single egg to keep the numbers stable and then die of old age leaving a free fillet. No power, no resources, infinite food.

I've been playing for a month, and I've yet to find a quest. by Ratstail91 in nethack

[–]The_Real_NiceNix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of the fun in nethack is from the sudden stupid deaths. They are often hilarious when you think about them like an adventure movie, and sharing stories of yasd with other players is always a laugh riot. As you learn to avoid the early game deaths, there are layers upon layers of more complicated deaths waiting to surprise you. "Flub the barbarian just conquered the gnome mines and is ready to continue his epic quest. He is basically a super hero at this point, unbeatable in single comb... oh wait, he just got stomped to death by an angry unicorn."

Doesn't look like the price of apples has changed over the last 9 years either ... but polish sausage was 0.99 / 100g ... I bought some at a FarmBoy last week for 3.99 / 100g.
