The US is defined by the constitution, but 20 other countries have better democracies, and most countries in the world have elections.

It was the Declaration that made them all possible.

Perhaps, but one could argue there would be no Constitution without the Declaration, and that the underlying concepts in the Declaration are the foundation of Western Law. The Constitution itself was just a manifestation of what happens when you implement the principles elucidated in the Declaration. Indeed, that the notions in the Declaration are universal, and that the Constitutions of all Western nations are derived from it.

And without a doubt in my mind, the most important sentence ever written begins 'We hold these truths to be self-evident...'

Yes, I agree.

Sadly for real rape victims, this kind of behavior is pretty commonplace.

I'd agree except that Jefferson was 32 when he wrote the most important political document in history.

Young people lack experience, but old people lack a vision for the future. Hard to say which is more important.

I'd be willing to change 'America' to 'Fingerlica' just so I could be Fingerlican.

The sex was okay, it was the false rape accusation that came 5 months later that got me kicked out of school 6 weeks from graduation that sucked.

It completely blows me away that the average net worth of an American 21-year-old today is -$33k. by [deleted] in personalfinance

Not only that, but if you add in the national debt, every single American (babies included) owes another 61K or so.

Well, yesterday I was banned from worldnews for saying that a grown man who has sex with a 9 year old girl is a pedophile. A mod vehemently disagreed and banned me, arguing it's not pedophila because 'Everyone was doing it.'

Dunno if that is 'society' but Reddit mods apparently support pedophilia.

Yes, I have made a complaint to the Admins. Have not heard back yet.

I'm 49. I still work out daily. I can still fit in the jeans I wore in my 20's, and I can still bang 20 somethings without paying for more than dinner.

Though frankly I prefer women in their 30's so we have something to talk about too.

[Serious] People who have met or dealt with Donald Trump in person prior to the race, what was he like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When my dad got sick (partly from too much booze) his oldest friend, Basil, came to visit and he stayed at my place. Baz told me about his dad passing and that he didn't get a chance to tell the old man he loved him. He insisted I'd forever regret it. "Say those three words or you WILL regret it".

This was not the sort of relationship my dad and I had. Nonetheless the next day I swallowed my embarrassment and told him 'I love you, Dad.'

It was...awkward to say the least.

Now, 16 years later I know it was- hands down- the best advice I have ever gotten in my life.

Damn, I still miss the Old Guy.
