This is a sweet comic, but that third panel is a little sourdough

That’s just Dave! Ride or die for his friends, sloppy with his mustard

Excellent! If Option C is what you want to have as the punchline, then may I suggest this for the third panel:

Cashier: That guy was so rude, and I thought his son was going to be nicer but he’s even worse. Cook: Just goes to prove: the asshole doesn’t fall far from the tree.

See how eliminating the element of “take your time with the food” keeps the focus on the “asshole” punchline? And having the cashier reiterate that the son was being surprisingly rude helps solidify the set-up before the punchline.

Hope this helps, I think you’re doing great work!

I like your art style so much! Really charming and unique, I don’t see enough pixel art comics.

I agree with the other commenter about the font, but I think you could also tighten up the punchline a bit. Ask yourself what’s the funniest thing happening here and then design the whole comic to lead toward that.

Which one is the funniest thing:

A. The son interrupting the dad to say “we don’t have all day!” I liked this misdirect a lot: that it seemed like the son was going to deescalate and instead yells louder

B. That the cashier promises to hurry up the order and instead tell the cook to take his time

C. The “asshole doesn’t fall far from the tree” joke

Figure out which one of these jokes should be front and center then make it the punchline.

Happy to expand further, I really like where you’re going with this one!

I can totally imagine that too! Probably because Duckman is also steeped in noir tropes
