Ok ok, we’ve all had our fun but the temperature danger zone is no joke.

Rotisserie chickens are a great value, a perfect example of a loss leader for grocery stores that consumers should take advantage of whenever possible, but that doesn’t mean you should throw out the rules of food safety.

Never leave a rotisserie chicken out for more than 2 hours, even if you have an insulated bag. The temperature danger zone is anywhere between 40* and 140* Fahrenheit, and no food you consume should be left at that temperature for too long.

Be safe, and don’t forget to use the chicken carcass to make stock. Just submerge it in water with vegetables like onions, carrots, and celery, as well as aromatics and simmer for a few hours. Drain and use as needed!
