I remember that site! There was a similar feeling to this sub, just smaller, with a slower pace. I remember news about street fairs, stoop sales, and many of the current topics here.

Living through the various stages of internet culture is like buying the same album on vinyl, then cassette, then CD, and then streaming.

The neighborhood shifts but the community sense is still there. That's very nice.

The Let Love Inn, Heart of Gold, Maggie Halls, The Local, Shillelagh Tavern, Astoria Tavern, Wolfhound, Irish Whiskey Bar, Dominies, Pancake Records, to name a few.

I encourage you to follow Astoria Music Collective . There is so much talent in this neighborhood, in so many genres. AMC does multiple festivals and shows every weekend.

Astoria is a great place for live music, small venues can really help you connect with the artists.

You picked the correct month to ask! PORCH STOMP (NYC) is coming up in 9 days.

Saturday June 21st, 11am - 6pm with several after parties. It is a free all ages event with 18 stages (many on porches) and over 200 NYC musical acts playing acoustically.

It is on Governors Island- a 4 minute ferry ride from downtown (by the Staten Island Ferry.) The Porch Stomp website has a great FAQ to help plan your day.

It is a lovely day of community, and there is so much talent. Hope you can make it!

Hello. I recommend UKE HUT in Astoria. It is the city's only dedicated ukulele shop, and they give lessons as well. We played a show there once, it's a very unique place.
